Scum Die Hard Pillaging Knowledge

By VumnSkillainy, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hi, first post!

So I really want to ruin people's day with Y Wings, but my play group is super competitive, Fat Han, BBBBlah, Deci + Pesky Thing, and yes more Brobits. I have Brobits built for winning/play testing purposes even though I prefer slightly fringe lists. The big question is viability.

Here are a few lists I'm rolling around.

Thoughts n Feelings?

The first list looks fine to me. Should do well, but if the clusters end up not working well,, you could always trade them for R4 agromech on the y-wings and a seismic on fett

Second list would be better without the title on the y-wings. Autoblaster turrets stuck forward are too situational to get best use out of them - you will want the 360 for them. Also if running VI on Xizor, he really needs FCS or else his damage output is meh. VI + FCS works pretty good, although I like predator + advanced sensors (too many points here though)

The third list I am not keen on. Opportunist on N'dru doesn't really make sense and even if there was a chance of using it, you will have trouble keeping him alive when he is stuck doing green moves to clear stress. It doesn't really matter how you want to run him,, I'm skeptical that he is a good fit alongside a bunch of y-wings.

For the third list, how about:

Tansarii Point Veteran (17)
Lone Wolf (2)
Heavy Laser Cannon (7)
"Heavy Scyk" Interceptor (Cannon) (2)

Syndicate Thug (18)
Ion Cannon Turret (5)
Unhinged Astromech (1)
BTL-A4 Y-Wing (0)

Syndicate Thug (18)
Ion Cannon Turret (5)
Unhinged Astromech (1)
BTL-A4 Y-Wing (0)

Syndicate Thug (18)
Ion Cannon Turret (5)
Unhinged Astromech (1)
BTL-A4 Y-Wing (0)

The m3 just seems a bit too much like a cheese ship to me, like 5x Procket M3s or 4x HLC, but I've never played with them before so idk. My fear of N'dru being too much of liability feels real. The second list is actually just stolen from a regional top 8, and I was incorrect about the Ys having the title. That being said I think there is definitely room for debate on how to set up the SV.

FCS vs Advanced Sensors vs Autothrusters

Offensive vs Mobility vs Defensive

Does Prince Cheesor ability + 3 evade dice make him slippery enough already without the auto include thrusters?

Mobility being one of his strengths do we push and capitalize on that, knowing he wants to stay near the space turtle that is the Y wing?

Or reroll dice all day with FCS to push more damage through?

Same can be said for Boba and the different builds for him, but for him its all about what upgrades optimize his offensive capabilities

What do you mean by 'cheese'? Over powered? I think its laughable to consider the Scyk in any way over-powered. Its generally viewed as one of the worst ships for scum & villainy, currently. No 'competitive' or 'top-tier' build currently features them afaik. So I don't think that's something to worry about.

As for the debate over FCS, adv. sensors or autothrusters, yeah I agree that they are all useful for different reasons. The thing with Xizor is though, in the early game, he doesn't take any heat, so trying to get TL + Focus all day long is the best way to go (maximizing damage early to reduce what enemies you'll face endgame when the y-wings are gone). Personally, I would go with predator + advanced sensors on him and autothrusters because that would give you all three (damage, mobility and defense) but of course that costs too many points to run with those y-wings (although I would probably end up dropping the astromechs just to run that particular Xizor if it were me).

No what I mean by cheese is its a cute super linear strategy that might steal some games straight up, like by blowing a deci up in one round of shooting, but will fold to a remotely balanced and diverse meta.

Edit: If the astromechs are gone how on earth do you bust any moves with the SV without exposing him to fire?

If you can get Autoblaster Ys working with His Purple Highness you're a better man than I. If you can get them working with the title even more so. I kind of threw my hands up with it in the end and surrounded him with various flavours of Z.

I agree with blade_mercurial's assessment of the Prince, but personally I'm a VI+FCS guy. He's my big gun and my closer, so I want him TL/focussed as much as possible, and I want him with a shot to move after the Fels and Whispers of the world. Re: Autothrusters, you should take them. The Viper's got no Evade action, it's relatively vulnerable to crits and it's not a good PTL ship so it's more vulnerable than most elite three-green-dice fighters. You desperately need that extra defensive edge.

Thanks for the input space bros, turns out you can have your cake and eat it too, so I'll have to try both out. Very interested in other annoying Y wing lists if you see any. Beep Boop.

Annoying Y-wing lists and Scum you say?

See if you like this one:

Kavil, Ion Turret, VI, Argomech

Dace Bonearm, Ion Turret, VI, Tactician

Z95 x 3

It's pretty annoying :)

We have guy in our group who runs a "Y-zor" list similar to what you posted. His Y's all have autoblasters and unhinged, no title. He's been flying it in tournament ts for 3 months now and does pretty well. Got 8th I think at the Minnesota regionals in June.

I run a Boba-Y- and 2 Z95s list quite a bit, my Y fitted out just like his.

What would you think about this squad for one option...

Syndicate Thug #1 (18)

Y-Wing

-Ion Cannon Turret(5)

Syndicate Thug #2 (18)

Y-Wing

-Ion Cannon Turret(5)

Black Sun Enforcer #1 (25)

StarViper

-Autothrusters(2)

Black Sun Enforcer #2 (25)

StarViper

-Autothrusters(2)

Total of 100p

I am about to try out this next time I have chance to play again! It's pretty basic in upgrade sense, but I would see this build to dominate squad of Interceptors or other quick squad builds.

Here is the list I am practicing with currently:

FIRESPRAY-31: · Boba Fett (39)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Gunner (5)
Engine Upgrade (4)
Inertial Dampeners (1)

Y-WING: Syndicate Thug (18)
Ion Cannon Turret (5)
BTL-A4 Y-Wing (0)
R4 Agromech (2)

Y-WING: Syndicate Thug (18)
Ion Cannon Turret (5)
BTL-A4 Y-Wing (0)
R4 Agromech (2)

50 points for Boba, and 25 points for each Y. I try to get my opponent to chase Boba. Then I swing the Y's in from behind. The engine upgrade on Boba lets him keep his distance and escape when needed. If my opponent goes after the Y's, then Boba can bring the pain with gunner. The Y's are durable enough to get a few shots in even if they are focused on. I am going to be playing this in a tournament next weekend.
