Hmmm, I think you are making assumptions about opponent behaviour that is somewhat unlikely.

For example, in your first list, the only way Soontir will provide a distraction is if you fly him aggressively toward the enemy ahead of your other ships, in which case, his chances of survival are low: your opponent just has to get a block and kill him before the rest of your squad is in range. I think what is generally more effective is to use Soontir as a flanker, by flying the rest of your squad ahead or keeping him far enough to the side that he won't attract immediate attention.

Similar problem with your last list. NO ONE is going to shoot at Xizor as long as there are other ships in range one of him. His ability is the ultimate protector. Bodyguard is completely redundant and helps him not a bit (since he won't get shot at until all of your others ships are dead or out of range for his ability to activate).

For your second list, I would find a way to get engine upgrade on boba. Its more important than recon spec. In fact, I'd rather have tactician than recon spec on boba, but YMMV on that.
