The Dirty Thirty (10-10-10)

By piznit, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Trying to decide which I like more, help me choose!

PS10 Airen Cracken, VI

PS10 Corran Horn, VI, FCS, R2D2

PS10 Ten Numb, VI, FCS, Mangler

-OR-

instead of Ten Numb you can sub a PS10 Horton Salm with Ion or TLT, R2-D6, VI, (Title, no Title?), and still have 5 points for some missiles, maybe on Airen. Or even a bomb on Horton?

The Y-Wing stays in formation slightly better than the B-Wing, and has a longer K-turn like the E/Z. Ten deals a little better damage maybe, if I can keep em in arc.

Either way, if you haven't flown 3 PS 10's in formation, its pretty fun. Especially when you can double tap with Corran

I think I like Horton better than Ten, as his ability is more present.
Give him a Range 1-2 turret (eventually a 2-3 turret), the BTL-A4 title, an engine upgrade, and your choice of Astromech, and he's still cheaper than your Ten build.

Yea, I prefer Horton over Ten.

Just realized I could also use Jan Ors with VI at the same price. Think I might still like the Y-wing better if only for the hull/shields. Definitely will tinker around with Horton, you don't see the poor guy much, he's ready to shoot some Imperials!

Horton doesn't have an elite pilote ability, so you won't be able to get him to 10.

R2-D6 gives him an Elite Pilot Ability.

That's why I cant use another droid with Horton, you have to give him the R2-D6 so I can equip Veteran Instincts

I disagree, with all of the Soontirs and such in the meta right now, auto critting things seems quite good.

I haven't had a chance to play with the Y instead of the B. I did get 3 games in with Numb, only 1 against a Soont. It did great against that 4 ship mixed TIE list.

He split up into 2 sets of 2 and tried to sandwich me. They decided to go after Airen first, and I had some good evade rolls. I picked the group with Mauler and an Adv. I shot down Mauler who tried and was *almost* out of arc, and he never even fired a shot. After that it was an uphill battle for the Imperial. He eventually shot down Airen and got the B to 2 hull, but Corran did his thing and finished everyone off

Seems like a lot to spend 2 points to get the pilot skill up.

My OCD would not allow for 2 PS 10 pilots and a lowly PS 8 scrub beside them. Also, "The Dirty Twenty-Eight" doesn't sound as cool

Actually, it has a little more mystique....

You could call it the "late great twenty eight"

Or go for Tycho, VI, PtL, Autothrusting Prockets instead...

I looked at Tycho, but already running a Z-95 I wanted some more beef. But I enjoy a good arc dodgy shift. Always good to have another version to try :)

Though I'm partial to the B-wing I think the Y is a better fit dial wise. The turret helps ease the pain of losing the three reds and the uncancellable crit from Ten. Not sure about the title though. Being able to cover your six has certain advantages.

I have flown this Tycho well

Tycho, Ptl, Daredevil, EI, prockets, and title. really fun to fly.

My version of "The Dirty Thirty" is

Luke Skywalker - VI / R2-D2

Wes Janson - VI / R3-A2 / Hull Upgrade

Horton Salm - VI / R2-D6 / Ion Cannon Turret

Edit: Hull Upgrade on Wes
