First Build

By nicholscs73, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

Hey all,

Getting into the game and was interested in opinions on this fleet build. I *think* it provides flexibilty, and would like opinions on objectives and weaknesses.

This is based of the first local tournament I saw where there was two Imperial fleets with VSD/Glad w squadrons and two Rebel fleets that were CR 90 swarm fleets w no squadrons.

Thanks in advance!

Made some changes. Could still use tips on objectives and any glaring mistakes.

Thanks!

I played a similair list before with great results. However when enemy has more than 2 ships protecting the Yavaris can be a problem. . Enemy might focus one of your ships (probably nebulon) and take it down quickly, after that you will be on the back foot, this can be especially dangerous when oponent has objectives like most wanted and fleet ambush.

Bwings are too slow to catch faster ships and smarter players wont charge into them. Thats why i usually went for Victory first becouse its slow and i could utilise bwings and yavaris combo to bring it down quickly. Assault firgate protected the Yavaris from flanking by gladiator (but when enemy has more than 2 ships he can flank Yavaris anyway.

Personally I am a big advocate of the Advanced Projectors on AFM2; with 12 shields to play with they can absorb an amazing amount of punishment. I also find that B-Wings are terribly hard to employ properly. If I was building this fleet I would switch out the two B-Wings for two Y-Wings (8 point savings) and then switch out Electronic Countermeasures with Advanced Projectors (3 points more). I'd put Raymus Antilles on the AFM2 instead of the Weapon Liaison for a cost of 4 more points. Net result is a total cost of 295 points for the fleet.

Y-Wings with 6 hull are hard to kill and still Bombers with a black die. The speed 3 is noticeably better than speed 2. Raymus Antilles lets you gain a token for each Command Dial you reveal making each Command that much better.

All of this is just my opinion I am still learning this game as well (sometimes painful lessons against more skilled opponents).

Check out my Armada Tactics News link in my signature. Look at the B-Wing clip there. It is a good way of protecting the Yavaris

Thanks for the tips all! I definitely want to try playing and switching around ECM/AP and Antilles/Weapons Liason. I definitely want to try my hand at the Bwing screen (the X wings are there to escort), especially after watching the video. If I can't make it work, I'll give Y's a try.

I am certainly worried about more than two ships...have to see how it goes.

Any thoughts on objectives to pick/avoid?

Practice practice practice. It took me close to a dozen games to even begin doing good and I make mistakes all the time!
