Pssst. Marine. This isn't a turrets are OP thread. You're in the wrong place.
Surviving the Tyrancy of Turrets and Tricksy Dice
In addition to direction, you can outmaneuver PMTs by maintaining the proper range. I can't dodge a turret with TIE Defenders, but I can do my best to hang out at range 3 where I get 4 green dice, abs my HLC denies a range bonus to them.
This thread is rather terrible:
a) it is based on the assumption that turrets are OP, no questions asked
b) it offers little to no solution because a)

a) It is based on the (wrong) assumption that somewhere in the first post is stated that turrets are OP.
b) It offers little to no new insights because of a)
Well, either way, we all know what the solution is don't we Elkerlyc..?

The solution would be you spewing nonsense about others imaginary crying or somesuch? ![]()

B) see A

Well, I was going to suggest playing Age of Sigmar.instead, but if you insist!
Age of Sigmar eh? ![]()
As a WHFB player with large Empire, Greenskin, Chaos, Undead and Bretonnia armies I am at a loss why GW killed off the game. AoS *might* be decent. But killing WHFB as a whole is sad for oldy neckbeards like me.

Oh, and bye bye Slaanesh. It was ni... erm... unpleasant and icky-feeling knowing you.
Unfortunately, I ducked out of GW a decade ago ![]()
if it helps, though, I'd take PWTs all day every day over completely random charge distances

aye this works up to a point (see my name
) but certainly more with higher health ships
Dash Rendar is actually a very good semi-reliable counter to the horrible mechanics of PWT because he'll provide the incentive for your manuevers. Either you use his ability properly and keep yourself out of range 1, or the PWT snuggles into your nono zone and you lose
HLC superiority at range 3 is really nifty in addition to an additional focused green die, when it feels like behaving, and ensures you'll most likely win the dice-off until maneuvers change the game state

Nerdrage? Proper nerdrage like this... ?
sorry for wildly steering away from topic.
All good now. Back to 'surviving opposing turret-thread' now. ![]()
I don't get it?
I guess the ideas presented in the first post were so good that it sent some into an off-topic stupor
I think the article is missing the most important component of any good list: asteroids! These little bad boys win games vs PWTs, I tell ya!
If you have a jousting list (like BBBBZ or whatever), stay close to your little asteroid bubble where the PWT doesn't want to go. Don't chase the turret, let it come to you and blast it! Force it into a jousting game with you and odds are suddenly heavily in your favour. And if the turret won't come out to play, then kill off the escorts and win on points when time is up ![]()

Indeed
The threat of space peanuts are legitimate since they accomplish something similar to stress and are the only things in the game that'll keep a pwr from shooting you regardless of whether or not they get damaged ![]()
Somehow I doubt that you were getting any shots off, then. Sounds like 100% of your games against turrets ended in a 0-0 draw.I have repeatedly escaped getting shot at it in 100% of games against turrets.
Killed them fine. I've lost exactly 5 tournament games to turrets. Blocking with the guy they want to shoot or blocking with someone who is waiting for a better shot is how you beat them. A prototype pilot with 1 hull left can completely piss in Dash's cornflakes.
When someone says that turrets can "always shoot you no matter what if you shoot them" what I hear is "I think that I should able to kill damaged turrets with rookie pilots". If you're in a 1v1 against a 50+ point ship with a generic or even a pair you've already lost. All of the situation descriptions that are cited inevitably are situations where they've already lost the game and somehow feel like they should still have a 50/50 shot. It's nonsense.
Ummm...if you've lost 5 tournament games it sounds like they got shots at you more than enough.
And honestly yeah a damaged 50 point ship should be vulnerable to a 21 point X-Wing if the X-Wing is flown well. But that flying doesn't matter nearly as much because of the 360 arc.
5/50+ isn't too bad. 4 were in elimination rounds from this competitive season. I've certainly killed more than have killed me.
And no, a lone generic has a lot of end-game ships that it is completely incapable of beating. It would be a pretty boring game if that weren't the case.
In order for your rookie to always have a shot we have to lose all or most of:
R2-D2 (astro)
Ptl interceptors(all of them)
Jake Farrel
Advanced sensors
All named E-wing pilots
Engine upgrade
Oicunn
Daredevil
Tycho
All IG's
Named starvipers
R2-D2 crew
3PO
All B wings(unless advanced sensors is gone)
The list of situations you really can't win unless your opponent just flatout fails is really, really long. This bizarre attachment to the turret as THE problem is frustratingly pervasive.
Edited by TasteTheRainbowPart of the hatred towards turrets is that the amount of effort you need to learn how to deal with them effectively is far greater than dealing with any other ship type in the game. Its also much easier to just start a rant on the interwebs or sprinkle irreverant comments than actually bothering to practice against them ![]()

Right. My comment wasn't really aimed at you though, just to be clear (or even this thread....mostly). ![]()
