Is it bad. . .

By Lyraeus, in Star Wars: Armada

I would like more factions and more diversity.

Ask me again in a few waves though. I might just be wanting more armada period.

Addendum: Remember, they invented the raider themselves only last year. It's entirely possible that they could do it again to flush out a faction.

And thats why I dislike the Raider.

But really, there are so many better and more plausbile factions than the silly Zann faction.

Yeah I think the Zann storyline would have actually made more sense as a CIS holdout fleet/large smuggling and pirate band alliance rather then what it was.

If they are going to release a third faction, I would have them release a fourth faction as well, and let us play Old Republic and Confederacy of Indipendant Systems.

The Forces of Corruption can push off, for my money. Criminals shouldn't have capitol ships.

Criminals and other independents have had capital ships in Star Wars basically as long as there has been an EU. They are just usually smaller ones like corvettes, and frigates, modified capital size freighters, or sometimes older cruisers rather then modern battleships. They didn't start getting modern heavy warships in any real numbers until the Zaan Consortium came along, and then later Legends mentioned that many former CIS warships went pirate, with Ugly capital ships using CIS ship parts apparently being used by pirates in canon, as well as Hondo having a frigate.``

While FoC can indeed push off, i wouldnt agree 100% on the criminal part.

The Hutt Cartels have had a massive fleet for thousands of years. They were in fact powerful enough to force a tacit "agreement" with the Empire rather than be conquered outright. They don't flex often against major powers, but they certainly can when they choose to.

On the other hand, they aren't normal criminals. They are a millennia old galactic warrior civilisation that owns vast swathes of space and controls virtually unlimited wealth and resources. Probably a bit different there.

Some people just dont like the unnecessary creation of new stuff. The Raider was made to fit roles that already existing ships covered. However, they weren't triangular and solar-paneled enough, so the Raider was born.

I personally like the design (though still feel it wasnt needed), but some people dont. Nothing wrong with that.

I would bet money that the Empire could wreck the Hutt Cartell any time it felt like it. But, A) the Hutt Cartel provides a great many goods and services that are desirable, an not easily obtained otherwise, and B) that "vast fleet" of corvettes and frigates would be time consuming to mop up.

The simple fact of the matter is that capitol ships are expensive to build, expensive to maintain, and, in the final accounting, disposable goods. I would be at home to the idea of the Hutts having, maybe, 5 or 6 ships the size of a VSD. Mostly as personal statements of wealth and power, on the part of the owners. If there are 10, across all of Hutt space, I would be surprised. The "vast fleet" of the hutts is almost certainly composed of smaller ships, corvett sized or smaller, and a few cruisers.

Remember, when dealing with merchant traffic, 4 turbolasers are as good as 400. And most Smugglers don't have much more than that.

Source: wild speculation, and knowing how muchtrouble it is to keep a capitol ship running.

Oh yeah, they absolutely could. But the fact that they even registered on the Empires radar spokes volumes to their power. In fairness, EVERYONE was a tiny speck next to the Imperial war machine.

They certainly didnt have vast numbers, but they certainly had a capital fleet at least post Empire, which they used to resist the Yuuzhan Vong. Very few details as to when these were built though.

I still think a criminal faction is a bad idea, but at least i could stomach the Hutts better than the Zann Consortium.

Once the new movie releases, we should get a better idea of where the current version of canon is headed.

While I would love to see some stuff from "Legends" -- or even the Clone Wars, the best business move will likely be for FFG to merchandise around the movies.

Of course, that's assuming the new movies are good. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

The trailers so far seem legit. Let's hope things go good
