Doesn't matter the platform, gaming as a whole will miss this man and the things he helped create.

Sounds like pancreatic cancer. Not a good way to go.

I am sure he was a nice Japanese salesman and I pity his family. But if FFG EVER starts catering to the Nintendo crowd, I am out of here. Bad enough what Nintendo did to computer gaming.
Sad news indeed.
Heard about this. This is a serious bummer. Like, bigtime.

Too late, FFG is already catering to people of all ages who enjoy fun games.

You're right! That's exactly what Nintendo does. Good job FFG, keep being like Nintendo!
R.I.P.
I wish I had anything to offer this thread other than a sober nod of sorrow.
Nintendo started in 1889, making playing cards. As a games company, they have consistently understood that their purpose is to bring joy to their customers. Naturally- _of course_!- Iwata was tapped to lead the company. He consistently showed that he was able to create things which created joy. Moreover, as a leader, he was able to find and refine the talent in others that would create that joy.
Knowing that Iwata was dying, Nintendo decided to forgo the normal E3 opener and instead... bring us puppets. This would not only disguise the illness of their CEO, but also delight an audience that had no idea the pain Iwata was experiencing.
Humanity is a bit dimmer, a bit smaller, a bit less happy. Let us remember Iwata as a great man, and celebrate his memory by bringing joy wherever we can.
