Admiral Snackbar

By Corellian Corvette, in Star Wars: Armada

So, lots of people talk about him on the MC80 or AF2.

He adds 2 red dice to your side arcs...

Corvette swarm anyone? :o

*Shudders*

It's almost as bad as a swarm with Opening Salvo.

Still, 8 ships getting +2 red dice, that's an extra 16 dice of firepower added.

Do we know the full wording on the card at this point?

Do we know the full wording on the card at this point?

No, just a snippet from an ancient news post.

Right, found it:

“…can add two red attack dice to any attack made by a starship that fires only from its left and right hull zones during its activation”.

In which case, you aren't actually benefiting much on a CR90 swarm, since you lose your front attack (unless you fly between 2 enemy ships so can fire both left and right, but you will DIE).

Mathematically speaking, you're actually better off having the separate front and side attacks over all i think.

What this is good for is long range, line of battle broadsides. The MC80 will be a killer, and AF's will also love him.

. . . 5 Enhanced Armaments CR90's and Akbar. . . God's. . . The concentrate fire. . . It makes a Nebulon-B Spear look weak. . .

Wait, what if Mr Admiral doesn't add dice, but converts blue and black dice into red dice so your guns have more reach, and he can due this up to 2 dice.

EDIT: oh, I see. Probably not then.

5 attacks in a turn, each 5 red and 1 blue (including Conc. Fire).

Ouch.

On the other hand, combat effectiveness will degrade horribly fast, and you are all but defenceless against fighter wings.

It'll be a powerful gimmick, but like any "all or nothing" list....you stand the chance of it being nothing, depending on the opponent.

it's been covered

Akbar's there to turn your whales into long range VSDs (6 red dice out the Enhanced Armament sides :o )

guess it'll work okay out of your mon cals, too, and on shrimps

the MC30 has a scout variant that fires red dice instead of blue (it's the card spoiled in the pic). Going by the torpedo variant (the one on the base in the Here They Come article) which has 2 blue and 3 black dice out the side, I'm assuming the scout will fire 2 red dice out the side. Akbar turns into 4 red dice, which are solid by themselves when you're not using your black dice (which, without a demolisher rip off, will be often)

Also, the upgrade cards spoiled show a Weapons Team upgrade card (ordnance something) which implies the shrimp frigate will have a Weapons Team slot. At the very least, this means it can take Sensor Teams and Akbar will essentially provide it with a free accuracy result.

4 red dice and add in the 8 point upgrade for Rapid Reload and you have the amount of dice a naked ISD 1 tosses at close range.

Of and the second to last card on the bottom work let's you change red crits to double hits. So Akbar made this deliciously evil to do. It's the Turbolasers upgrade. Look at the symbol on the second line before the next card you will see a jagged part of a symbol. Wonder what dice face has a jagged symbol ^_~

Oh yeah, the "lesser warlord" turbo upgrade. I love it. Well, my AF's would love it... if they haddent already committed to EA. Plus I don't see myself replacing Mon Mothma anytime soon unless I pick up an MC80.

Ackbar seems to be very situational but if you build the right fleet and keep them all at long range it could be a very effective counter to the imperials get in close and smash things with black dice mentality.

It is a tough choice really. . . It all depends on what else comes out of wave 2. With the possibility that SW 7 Ions let accuracy deal damage. . . Victory II's will be scary. . .

personally, a lot of it is going to depend on the Rogue squadrons

I like squadrons too much to use Shrimp Frigates; too little squadron support or anti-squadron fire :(

the MC80's more up my angle, but I just love my whales (love me some weird things, like the mk2 and the star viper) so I doubt it'll see as much play as akbar from me :P

The Home One Title (aka, uber H9) does have me interested, though

Believe it or not, I am not a huge squadron person. I know how to use then but give me more raw dice!

and not just dice

the MC80 is packing an ion upgrade, which means leading shots

5 reds, 3 blues; re-rolls up the bum

You need a blue critical though

I think Leading Shots is one of the most underused gems in my local meta.

It seems like this will really help when performing the Akbar slash.

Assuming they imperial player ever lets you pull it off.

I could of sworn that it was just "spend a blue die" to reroll all the other dice that you wish to reroll...

this is indeed correct

also, it's not a mod so you can use it with Ea for yet more re-rollable dice

You could also consider SW 7 Ion cannons which possibly make accuracy icons count as damage.

I like no bracing better than more damage though. :/

Unless you roll too many accs :P

But if its acc counts as damage, then it's just extra damage on top of negating tokens

Which is just pure profit. It makes a blue die a guarenteed damage against ships
