If i survive reading your articles, do I get a reward? ![]()
Thanks a lot. . . Is it really that bad?
Errmmmmm....
You guys are not helping me and I already have self esteem issues. . .
The colors on the black background make it hard to read for some....
In all seriousness, I'm simply not going to attempt to read anything presented in a color scheme that hostile to the reader
Its not bad man, just fix up your color scheme and youre totally fine. Keep up the good work and thanks for putting out more armada content!
I am not sure I understand. What's so hostile about the colors? Are they to bright? I did not want to go too dark because then it's harder to read in general.
Scathing comments are ok if you at least give a reason or a method to fix the issue. The way your comment is worded I actually don't know what's wrong other than you think that it is hostile. Which could mean far too bright, far too dark, etc.
I have it set up so that it will be using the desktop version for all devices so I honestly need to know where I can improve on.
Well I lowered the blue down to a darker tone that still shows up well on the black.
Is the green as bad?
I didn't read the article, so I won't comment on that.
I would suggest toning down the green and orange slightly, and then brightening up the gray (in the intro) just a touch.
Other than that, it looks fine. The green is a little jarring, that's the biggest problem I see.
Edited by DerErlkoenigHmmmm ok. I did not want it to fade too much but let me fix that. Ok done.
Let's see here, the grey is what I have been using the entire time and when I first started people said it was ok. The orange is not super bright but I want it to be noticeable so that people know it is the interviewer asking questions
That's much, much better. I don't know what you changed exactly, but the change in green helped a lot.
I just changed the green and the blue to darker variants offered on the editor of blogger. Took a bit but glad it helps. I will likely keep to the same color scheme for future articles
Edited by LyraeusMost of this is me mulling stuff over, but lets see:
Appearance wise:
Hmm, does the wordpress platform use various font types? Often the font itself can work as much for characterization as colours, and it partially eliminates some of the problem of a high contrast black background (from everything I've expeirenced, the background is often more a problem than the colour choice. A light grey in particular, given the gunmetal aesthetic of Star Wars, could work just as nicely). That said, I don't think it's particularly offensive right now, and I'll admit loving coloured fonts more than most (my rants at Skype for replacing MSN Messenger were... vivid).
I'd still have to look at the basics of the platform choice, as I'm pretty rusty, but embedding a background image that's more colour neutral might save some squinting. I've never done the internal work on that side of things for Wordpress or Blogspot, the most I've done is article bits, that was years ago with another gaming site on Wordpress before they switched to Ning (if memory serves).
Theme wise:
It's perfectly workable as a blend between narrative heavy in-world stuff and far more recognizable and easily expressed Gamer maxims. It's a hard and thin line, but it works. There are always some Callsigns and nom de guerre that work, Yavin in particular is still a great one.
Content wise:
It's good and informative, I’ve seen you talking about it a few times before, and I generally concur as well. I'd kinda like to hear it there's any particular upgrades that might help or mitigate that type of danger (since it was established what's common to find on GSD's, a counter might be nice).. It's good to hear about the types of ships compared to how they function against the GSD, but is there any initial placement to safeguard a fleet against them? Should we go fishing with a CR-90 as bait on a long red line, or fly in formation with a heavy hitting fleet to protect against strays being culled? Merely asking, I've owned a GSD for less than 30 hours and I play Rebels and Imperials.... so, yeah
There's a few grammatical things here and there that a spellcheck won't generally pick up, something like a run through a dedicated grammar checker like Grammarcheck. As long as you don't slavishly follow all their suggestions of course (which makes everything proper, albeit stilted).
I liked it (although I didn't see it until after your edits) I agree with Vykes though a little more meat to the stragegies would be great

Good job!
I particularly like the tone of the narrative.
My complaints about the presentation have been resolved, thanks.
Good read, I found it very entertaining and informative.
Thank you!
Hmmmm I could do some changes font wise. I am doing this all from my smart phone so some things like spell check are a bit harder (I had stopped blogging because it took forever via cell phone and I recently got a Bluetooth keyboard which I type way faster on)
Alright that is all good information. I will have to make another blog post. Now, about the strategy rto count such as placement that would go under some other posts such as the Rebels tactics and such. This was more trying to be informative.
As I stated in the other thread already, ram those suckers to death. I use Dodonnas Pride and ramming with great success against GSD - basically everything that bypasses shields, or strip shields fast (ion cannon, Salvation, XI7 Turbolasers). Their Hullpoint value is simply too low to take that very long. Ramming is especially nasty - if he goes fast afterwards he shoots past you and will need some time to come back. If he goes to slow you will get another chance to ram with a different ship that's setup behind the first ramming vessel.
As for setup there's not much to pay attention to - place the Corvette(s) right across the GSD so he can only fire the front weapons at you, go forward fast (speed 3+) shoot and ram. As Rebel player you bring far more Hullpoints to the table than your opponent, so that exchange is in your favor.
The B-Wing tactic could lead your opponent to believe that you want to go the "normal" GSD counter way, and then you ram him - might be a surprise (plus B-Wing in range are nice) :-)
About your blog: I don't like reading stuff that's on dark background. And I don't like changing colors in text unless it highlights really important information. But that's me, others might like that. The "storytelling" is a nice touch, but again not for me - I'm fan of condensed information.
Hmmmm ok. I can't say I will appease everyone. . . Hmmmm I really do like the black background, it firs with my want of the blackness of space. . . Hmmmm
Appearance was my main beef. Just keep it standard black text on white...I don't care about looks, just the actual information, and all that color makes it hard to read.
As far as content, it's not bad.
Well the color is so people don't get lost in who is talking or responding. Knowing that the host is orange, Commander A is green and B blue is a method of keeping up with what's being said.
That is just the easiest way I see it though
So, when do we start talking about an 88 point ship destroying a 70 point ship and calling it a problem?
I have not had any real trouble with gald's, they simply just wither from return fire. And ships are designed to stop single large damage attacks.
