And no EDIT? WTF are they smoking? It'd be nice to have if we played a lot of Mafia but that's about it. There is no reason edit shouldn't be enabled ALL of the time, unless it's a security concern in which case GET SOME NEW SOFTWARE YOU CRAZED MONKEYS! If it's a security concern for five minutes, that's four minutes and sixty seconds too long!

There is an edit button, just not anywhere you expect to see it!

Top right of your posts, there should be a line reading " Edit | Reply #4 | Published on 13 December 2008 - 05:15:36", for example... Naturally, the 'Edit' is only there on your own posts gui%C3%B1o.gif

Hang on! The 'edit' option WAS there earlier, I cut the text from another post I'd made, and even edited my post for a typo - but now it's gone again!

What's going on....

Edit : And now I know - and it's such a **** stupid system I wish I didn't...

" If after publishing a message you realize there is something you’d like to change, you can correct it in the first 5 minutes after it was published. To edit a message, go to the message you would like to correct and press “Edit” at the top of the page next to the publication date."

5 minutes? Why???

I am aware of the 5 minutes to edit your post. The last sentence was intended to convey that, as well as the ludicrousness of only being able to edit your post for 5 minutes.

Not your fault, it was me who wasn't aware of it or pick up on your conveying it - and even now I am, I still can't think of any half -sane reason why they've made it that way..... sorpresa.gif

A work around has been discovered (there's a thread in the UFS GenD forum, but it would take too long to go there and get the link, so if you're curious you'll just have to find it yourself).

The simple way is, when you make a post, simply copy the URL of the Edit link, edit your post, and put link that URL in your post. Then you can come back, even after the 5 minutes are up, and edit that post.

The complicated way (which can be used on posts where the 5 minutes have already elapsed):

1. Copy the topic's URL
2. Hit the Quote button on your own post to get the efidm number of your post
3. Add "&efidm=#####" to the end of the topic's URL
4. Change the "edge_foros_discusion.asp" portion of the URL to "edge_foros_editar.asp"
5. Follow your new URL

Edit : So now anytime I want I can change this post, even after the 5 minutes are up.

My intial thought when you said "copy the URL of the Edit link" was: Hmm... I wonder if I could use the link to edit his post?

Unfortunately, it didn't work. That would have been funny though. happy.gif

Yeah... except instead of funny, it'd be tragically poor coding. That's something they got right at least.

Adding a "subscribe," or "tell me when someone replies to me through e-mail or the site itself (like BGG)," function would be best. It's hard to keep track of the conversations I've taken part in, read replies, and continue to contribute to the community without it.

PMs and email notifications are big things. we need those.

I like that there are subforums here, but I see that not all areas of the boards have them.

avatars I don't care about. and I can see both sides of the argument, after being on some forums that don't limit avatar size properly, or have excessively animated avatars.

I'm not into the points system here, I think its silly and needless personally.

post editing, definately needed after 5 minutes. Don't see the point in limiting that function. Also don't see why after making a post it kicks you back to the forum main page, requireing 3 or 4 clicks and page loads to get back to where you were - this is a waste of bandwidth.

the colors, backgrounds, and animations "look" nice, but are they really needed? they can really slow down some people's computer, and those with colorblindness will find issues if they can't adjust to something they can use, and users who need text to audio might find issues with the forums as well given the interface and native code.

I think this software is ok for the game and publisher section of the website, but for forum use it is leaving me with a really bad taste in y mouth, so to speak.

I also think it is bad form to lose the old database after only a month as well. most of the time when changes are made they are locked down and left alone for reference - many times you will realize you need something from there, months later.

I find this the least useful incarnation of the forum so far. First, the design is over-elaborate and amateurish. White letters on black backgrounds? There is a reason nobody does this. I find it hard to believe that the web designer here is really trained in graphic design, as the evidence suggests otherwise.

But more telling is the lack of content. The forum previous to the previous forum (or perhaps the one previous to that, I'm not sure, but not the immediately previous forum) had all kinds of content for Warrior Knights , for example. Posted games by e-mail with commentary, tutorials, strategy guides, active discussions. Even an FAQ , which if it exists, is not noted in the forum. In contrast this new new site has almost no content, all the old articles are gone, and almost no activity.

I'll come back to see if much has changed, but compared to Board Game Geek , which is run by actual amateurs, but serves its purpose very well, the support for Warrior Knights is far in excess of what I see here, and I suspect is the case for most other FFG games.

If this were government work, I'd suspect someone spent money just so they could funnel it to their pals.
