Major Rhymer

By thanosazlin, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

You do know you can kill him if you wanted to, right? Or lock him down with your own squadrons? Or kill the other guy's ships before he can kill you? Or get more victory points at the end of the game?

Personally, I like flying Imperials with minimal or no squadrons but Rhymer is making me consider making a squadron-heavy build. :D

correct me if im wrong, but rhymer has heavy, which means you cant lock him down by engaging him. he isn't affected by that status.

Heavy means Rhymer cannot lock down other squadrons. Not that he can't be locked down.

Yes.

Yep... I see that as bombers being "heavy" means they can't really pose a threat to fighters as the fighters will just run away and ignore the bombers. However, if the fighters choose to engage the bombers, they can essentially "lock down" the bombers because the bombers will have to respond to the fast and agile fighters.

But if you give the Rhymer Ball some escorts (TIE Advanced) you can use them to screen for those squadrons that would otherwise lock down the bombers.

As long as the fighters get within range 1 of Rhymer he will be engaged, Advanced around him or not, it just means that the fighters engaging him cannot shoot at Rhymer because they must shoot the advanced. Rhymer, being engaged, must then shoot the fighters if he wants to attack - he cannot use his special ability to shoot a ship outside that engagement.

So yes, you would have to very carefully screen - but because you need to keep them (the fighter and the enemy fighters) more than range 1 from Rhymer it could be any fighter, not just an escort/advanced.

Bring in Admiral Chiranu and the Corruptor. Maj. Rhymer goes where he wants.
