Yep. That is definitely a swivel gun on the bottom separate from the chin cannons.

Will the First Order TIE Fighter steal the TIE Aggressor's role before it even makes it into the game?

The toy is for the 6" line of Black Series.

The Tie is 26" and will retail for $169.99....

How much would you pay for an academy tie fighter with a firespray-style auxiliary arc?

In all honesty, 13 points maybe. A rear arc is nice but for basic academy ties I wouldn't want to spend more that a point, mayyybe 2 on upgrading them.

The picture says "first order special forces TIE Fighter" I highly doubt we would get a pilot skill 1 pilot for a ship like that. My guess, is this TIE will be considered the next TIE Advanced, or at the very least able to take the advanced targeting computer. Unless they do a whole new game.

So named pilots mostly then? Or maybe ps profile similar to the phantom expansion.

I'd have said the same thing about the TIE Defender. And yet...

I agree this will be some type of Advanced TIE, for elite-hero type pilots.

I don't see why there couldn't be a PS 1 version. There's PS 1 A-wings, E-wings, and TIE Defenders. Those were all advanced, cutting-edge ships when they were released. It seems to me that FFG leans towards lower PS on the top of the line fighters, because the pilots weren't experienced with the ship.

I will agree that the mid-tier generic should be elite, at least PS 5 with an EPT so they can keep up with scum.

Looks nifty too.

Found this shot which gives another look at the turret/cannon (unfortunate placement though!)

There are "standard" TIEs in the movie without the "Cogs" or antenna (and presumably without the turret/cannon) - these "standard" TIEs can be seen in the first teaser dogfighting the Falcon.

It's like a bad Kenner toy...

Here's a much higher res version of the original image Joe posted:

Putting the Tie on a mirrored surface cleverly lets us see the detailing on the bottom of the ship. Well done... whoever thought of that!

Would have been a nice touch if the underside detail did something besides further impression of crappy tacticooling.
