Crawl generator that lets you save?

By Doctor X, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

The one at starwars.com doesn't allow you to link the crawl you've just created (Unless I'm missing something, so by all means, tell me.) and the second one on the Resources pin is a bit intimidating for someone from the View Source, CTRL+C, CTRL+V school of HTML. (I also don't want to go through all the work to find that, again, I can't save it and show it to the group.

Anyone know of alternatives?

I used the one on StarWars.com but after showing it to my players it didn't matter to me if it was saved. They loved it though.

Yeah, tried the Starwars.com one. The problem being that we game around a table at someone else's house, so I probably COULD disassemble my computer, move it over there, reassemble it, write up the crawl, show it to them, then take it all down to go home, but would rather just find one where maybe I can save it to my tablet or something.

Depending on what software you have, you could do a screen recording and transfer that recording to your tablet.

There’s a crawl generator app for the iPad which works pretty well. I don’t know if it lets you save the video, but you could certainly replay it as many time as you want.

The problem I experienced with the iOS (not sure of the other mobile OS) crawl app is that it won't let you play your music, even if the song was legally purchased.

Would you please link the Star Wars dot com version here? I am curious to try it.

Currently I run the opening theme with the logo and do my own crawl over it, which is a quick recap of the last session and the point of the current one. I try to time it with the same change in feel that the movies do, panning to the current session in a way.

The official star wars one does not save. Use the other one in the Resource thread, you can close out all of the code windows, save it, you can even speed it up and slow it down by finding the duration in the code.

EDIT: To save you digging... Just use the actual link after you save it to publish it.

Easy enough to save text to a word file. available to plug in or change

If you've got the iOS one, you can save it then bring it into iMovie to add your music pretty easily.

I have the crawl creator that Progressions sent me, but does anyone have a suggestion for a program that can record the crawl?

Any screen recorder should work. Which one you use would be more dependent on your platform and what kind of software you like to use, more than anything else.

Thanks Brad. I have Windows 7 so if you have a suggestion, that would be great

Sorry, dude. I do not (voluntarily) do Windows.

My only exception to that rule so far is OggDude’s program, and even then I’m now doing it on a VM running in AWS, which I shut down whenever I don’t need it.

Good luck!

I've used http://starwarsintro.com/ for my kids birthdays. It comes as a quicktime video file that you can share.

I use windows. Makes a saveable WMV file.

40 dollars?

Check this one that I made: http://brorlandi.github.io/StarWarsIntroCreator/

Thank you.

This is crazy awesome! You did a fantastic job. Is there anyway to not have the Death Star at the end of video? That is the only thing keeping me from donating for the download at the moment.
