I think this could be a great asset to the game. none of that mystery box crap, just here's a box of stormtroopers, or rebel pilots, wookies, etc.
Any chance we'll see a line of SW miniatures???
So, Imperial Assault minus the rules? It even comes with map pieces. The figures look really good, by the way.
You'll soon be able to buy sets of 3 stormtroopers or 2 wookies.
The imperial assault figures are really good, between them and SWM you should be spoiled for choice.
It is possible to buy singles of the old wotc miniatures. Many are under a dollar.

No, no you cannot. These are not the miniatures you are looking for.

(Says the guy suddenly trying to increase the size of his WotC mini collection, hoping to be able to find the stuff he needs at a decent price.)
Fwiw, I find Cool Stuff Inc has a good selection.
Edited by jbmacekOut of curiosity, how do the Imperial Assault minis look standing next to WotC minis? Are they close in size?
Edited by jbmacekImperial Assault minis are a bit thicker/chunkier, so your WotC minis will look like they need some meat on their bones but size-wise they're the same scale. The difference is enough to be slightly annoying but not flow-breaking
Also there's always the tokens that come with the Beginner Games, I have all 3 sets and it covers most enemies your PCs will face and have enough variety for Player Characters and non-enemy NPCs as well.
Edited by RortharrI gave up on maps and minis and it has been so freeing. (This after collecting a couple hundred WotC Star Wars minis, all of the old WotC maps, and a good number of Maps of Mastery stuff)
I still geek out looking at the Maps of Mastery kickstarters and all the new figurines coming out with Imperial Assault (and X-Wing, and Armada), but apparently children have to eat more than once a week.
duh, they came out with mini's. it is imperial assault. Bigger clunkier and unpainted. but they are mini's
And today, and today only, Miniatures Market has Imperial Assault on sale for $50. That's half retail.
Say... could someone who owns an IA AT-ST and the WotC AT-ST post a pic of them side by side, please. That would be lovely. I'm curious how they look. Thanks!

I don't have the picture, but, this was a pretty common question on the IA forums!
The WotC AT-ST is thinner and taller; significantly taller because while the legs are slightly longer the post is pretty much standing straight up, while the Imperial Assault AT-ST is hunched forwards.
Personally, I think the Imperial Assault one looks significantly better.
Thanks, What!

Interestingly it looks like neither is quite right. The WotC one has about the right height, but only because it's upper legs are in the wrong position. The FFG one has the right leg position, but it's also a little short, though I'm guessing if I were to run the vehicle through my modeling system I'd find the "official" 8.6m might not be correct to what's on screen as is often the case with Star Wars vehicle dimensions...

Edited by GhostofmanThank you, Ghost!
So, you're saying he's a little short for an AT-ST...
Edited by RLogue177I've wanted to get some of the Imperial Assault minis for use in the RPG... I'm already using my X-Wing ships... (until my Archaeologist gets her hands on a Loronar E-9 Explorer... then I'm out of luck again). I always thought it would be cool to use all the different items as they should fit together pretty well. And then you really start looking at the price... and then I look at my painting table and the horde of Zombies for my wife's Zombicide addiction.
Then I glance into the dark recesses of the closet at the old Star Wars action figures... hmmm... Hasbro is releasing new ones on September 4th, right? Larger than life... dig it... no painting required... means I can possibly do this from time to time without the Spousal Faction penalty. Have to upgrade the scenery though... 3" tiles look about right... hmm... now I'm painting something besides Zombies again... Whiteboard Wins!
