Just to be clear, the world I'm creating is a high fantasy setting like D&D and other RPGs. All careers will be able to do something meaningful in a fight. The player characters will be adventurers not ordinary citizens. The obligation system from EotE will be used to explain what made them leave their ordinary lives and become adventurers. I don't plan to include merchants, peasants or nobles in to the careers, perhaps you were born into a peasant, noble or merchant family but you are no longer just a peasant, you have picked up a weapon or found out that you have the ability to cast spells.

Fair call, your heading in the right direction for that. I come from a WFRPG background so I like to include everyone in the low fantasy setting. For that high feel then you can have much more specific careers and specialisations.
You could implement a handling rating (similar to vehicles handling) into all weapons, and have ranked talents that reduce handling for specific weapon types too. Thus keeping the lower number of skills but making specialisations have more variation. The hammer man and barbarian both have 2H Melee but one has the Hammer talent, while the other has the Greatsword Tallent.
Just to be clear, basically Cumbersome, but not tied to strength, but practice and training.
You could require a certain number of skill ranks to negate an amount of setback, depending on the weapon
I have played D&D for 20+ years so my backround is high fantasy, and that probably explains a bit the direction i'm going with this :-)
I will be using some ideas from WFRPG. I bought the pdfs of FFGs version some years ago. I was intrigued by the new dice mechanic but a lot og the other stuff I didn't like. Have never played it though.

The SW dice are much better from my experience, especially for your High Fantasy setting.
I also like the SW dice much more. Back when EotE was announced I was very excited for the new and simpler dice mechanic. I found that WFRPG felt much more like a board game than an RPG.
Yep, also way too many blank faces on the WFRPG dice, rolling with no result happens a lot more. I find the SW system has a much better balance. I also like that the SW advantage and setback are much more powerful.
The Ranger: Pathfinder has been added to the list.
His Awareness Rating is the same as SW Force Rating. The Ranger and Druid will use Awareness Rating, while the Cleric and Paladin will have a Faith Rating and finally the Wizard and Minstrel will have Magic Rating.
The Spell Tree for the Ranger is not finished yet, it will be revealed later. At the moment the Ranger's Spell Tree will be mostly utility spells useful outside of combat, but there will probably be a few spells to aid in combat.
Edited by ZulothI can now reveal my Metamagic Talent Tree, every spellcaster will get access to this tree.
My Spell Trees will be a bit different than SW Force Powers, instead of upgrades and controls, it will be individual spells. Therefore I have created the Metamagic Talent Tree.
Edited by ZulothAnd now the Ranger: Hunter has been added to the list.
This looks very interesting and some of the ideas I might borrow en rework into my vision :-)

Edited by Bishop69The Ranger: Beast Master and the Pet rules has been added to the list. Also the Guardian has been adjusted a bit.
I have adjusted the Career skill list for the Hired Sword. I have removed the Knowledge (Warfare) and replaced it with Survival. Knowledge (Warfare) will probably show up in the Knight career list. As for Survival I'm thinking of allowing it to be used for First Aid checks, but you will still need the Chirurgy skill for long term care and healing critical injuries. That is why the Beast Master has Chirurgy as Bonus Career skill, so he can tend to his pet.
You might also consider removing Melee(Heavy) and even Knowledge (Warfare) from the career list, replace with some kind of Survival or Animal Handling. This allows the Berzerker to shine in the Heavy area, and the Guardian to have Knowledge (Warfare).

Don't forget, just because a skill isn't a Career skill, doesn't mean someone can't have it. It just costs a small amount more per rank.
I guess this was in response to my comment about the use of First Aid. I know you can use skills even if they are not career skills :-)
My reasoning behind the use of Survival for First Aid checks, more specializations will get Survival as career skill and thus be better at first aid without them needing the Chirurgy skill to do it good. I think a good deal of the EotE, AoR and FaD specializations have Medicine to reflect their training in First Aid, not because they are good at surgery or long term care but they do get it in the package when they get Medicine and that takes a little away from the doctor'ish specializations, at least from my way of seeing it. I think I can get away with allowing first aid from Survival it'll not break game balance I think :-)

Thanks for sharing this with us. I have been playing the FFG game now for close to three years now. And Star Wars RPGs since about 1988. I am in love with the narrative dice system. I think for me the biggest thing in this system is that there are no levels. I have never been a fan of "Leveling" up in an RPG, and in Star Wars I never felt that is was the right way to go. Sorry, you can not put a 900 year Jedi Master in with a 30-40 year old Jedi master...Also, I love the fact the we have yet to see the stats fro any major person in the Movies. I do not want official stats for Vader!!! If I do need them, I will make them as I see how he would relate to my game world.
Anyway, more to my point now. I have been wanting to play a pen and paper Witcher game since I played the first Witcher PC game back in 2006. I have since become a total WItcher fanboy, having read the original novels, what comics I could get that have been translated, and have even watched all the episodes of the Polish TV show; that while horrifying, at the same time, I still loved. Now with The Witcher 3 released on all platforms, it seems that there is a huge wave of Witchermania going on, and I have been able to get most of my Group into it as well. We all have the game on at least on platform, and a couple have or going to go get The Witcher PC, and The Witcher 2 games to play them. I recently began looking back into somehow doing a Witcher RPG, and have found some really well done GURPS fan made stuff. I did also find some really nice looking Pathfinder fan made stuff, but I will never run a a Level-based system again. Yuck...
My Group really does not want to go to GURPS, as none of us have the 4th Ed books, and only one player has ever played GURPS before. We are looking at using the FFG system to try to make a Witcher RPG.
So I have yet to check out your files, but I will be reading them this week. This could save me a lot of trouble! I do know that my game will be akin to the FaD "Knight Level Play". AS I feel the starting XP suggested by FFG will not work for creating a Witcher that has finished his training, and is starting out on The Path. So I will give your stuff a look, and might even be able to provide a little feedback. I look forward to seeing what else you are going to do! In the mean time, for any interested, feel free to check out my Obsidian Portal pages, and the newest one, the Witcher-Monstrum, or Portrayal of Witchers.

Any feedback is welcome, and if anyone is an OP member, feel free to become a fan of the pages, or leave comments!
Ciao.
Also, could you make one link to your Dropbox NDS folder. So I don't have to keep jumping back to the FFG Forum pages. Thanks.
User-friendliness is important so now the NDS Fantasy folder is available instead of individual links :-)

we want moooooore....
PS.: great work!!!
I'm working on the magic and spellcasting mechanic at the moment. Hopefully I will be able to reveal it in a few days :-)
I may have to "cheat" and use this for my Witcher NDS game. I have been thinking hard about the WItcher Signs, which is a form of magic, just a lot less powerful than a Mage or Sourceress. I have been debating if I wanted to use the Force Die mechanic or not. In the Witcher you use Stamina to use Signs, so I figured I could tie that to Strain. But instead of being light or dark, it would just show if the character is using Strain or not to power a sign. Sometimes they could get lucky and the Sign may not cost them strain, and sometimes it may...
I don't know if I really like that idea or not, part of me and part of me doesn't. So I can't wait to see how you are going to bring magic into the game.
So here's a question I have to ask: species. What do you have for species?
Well at the moment my species selection is Human, High Elves, Sylvan Elves, Half-Elves, Mountain Dwarves, Surface Dwarves, Halflings, Gnomes and Half-Orcs.

The first draft off the Magic and Spellcasting mechanic is now available.
