Leebo & Luke

By JamieSpace, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Right - I have played with the super dash builds a few times but not been having too much luck. I guess I need to get my head around it but how about then following list using Leebo. I like to use something a tad different.

"Leebo" (34)
Determination (1)
"Mangler" Cannon (4)
Recon Specialist (3)
Outrider (5)

Luke Skywalker (28)
Lone Wolf (2)
R2-D2 (4)
Shield Upgrade (4)

Bandit Squadron Pilot (12)
Ion Pulse Missiles (3)

Total: 100

Not as hard hitting as Dash lists but more staying power.

I know determination is great on Leebo but I guess it can be situational (i.e if you get a crit) and Luke is a pain in the end game. Would you swap the bandit for a Proto with no upgrades?

Let me know what you think!

I like it. Leebo and Luke make for a resilient pair for sure. I think the Headhunter with Missiles is more of a threat than a naked Prototype. Maybe change R2-D2 to R5-P9 on Luke, since he rarely needs his Focus anyway, then you can upgrade the Bandit to a Tala which helps a bit against Predator (a very popular upgrade of late). Of course, the main advantage of the Prototype is how awesome a blocker it can be. Others should give you pointers about that though, as I'm not very good at playing the blocking game.

I'd drop the IPM from the Bandit and upgrade Leebo to HLC, also I prefer engine instead of shield if I'm upgrading X-Wings...Have you considered trying to squeeze engine in on Leebo? It's pretty big in terms of the survivability options it brings.

Yes, Engine on Luke is very good, especially if you keep R2-D2 on him, so when you need to do a green maneuver to regain a Shield, you can still reposition better. I don't think I would change the Mangler though. Dash is clearly the best pilot for the turreted HLC because of his ability. Maybe this:

Luke (Lone Wolf, R2-D2, Engine Upgrade)

Leebo (Determination, Mangler Cannon, Recon Specialist, Hull Upgrade, Outrider title)

Bandit

100 points

So the Bandit basically becomes the blocker and could still get some nice shots if he's ignored. And Leebo's extra Hull might proved useful with his ability if crits abound.

If you aren't going to put engine on Leebo then yes, Mangler is the right choice.

Thanks for the wise words guys. I don't have R5 so will stick with R2D2 but like the idea of engine on Luke

Also like the idea of hull of Leebo.

Needs a play around me thinks but I'm liking it

I like the Ion Pulse Missile on the Z. It makes any large ship sweat when it starts to fly near the edge of the map. I have flown them extensively, and I have found that if you get an early target lock on an enemy large ship it makes them a high priority target. For this list, you want Leebo and Luke to stay alive as long as possible, and if the threat of a 15 point ship does that, you're going to be a happy player in the end game. It essentially gives you the freedom to be really aggressive with the Z while Leebo and Luke may prefer to play a little more conservatively to stay alive until the end game.

List update:

I have flown this list twice and done well with it. Beating an IG/ 2xY-Wings and an IG/Boba list.

I have put the EU on Luke as its just needed to get around the board, out of arcs or into range 1. I have been tempted to drop the IPM from the Z as I haven't gotten them off to good effect yet, but then again it does make people sweat a little when the target lock goes down.

Luke is a def tough nut to crack and Leebo has twice done his thing with determination.

Basically I'm liking it. It does lack the hitting power needed on IGs with Autothrusters but focus fire gets through.

I would prefer a proto pilot over the z-95 personally, but I can see how the IPM would be useful. I like blockers though, and the proto is better at it than the zed (also a bit more durable, which is nice).

I'm gonna try the proto. As you say, great blocker and lasts longer which is great in tournaments.

I have created my own Leebo list where he is paired with Kanan, would love feedback.

Leebo- Marksmanship,Mangler Cannon, Nien Nunb, Outrider, Experimental Interface(50)

Kanan Jarrus- Fire Control System, Ion Turret, Recon Specialist, Intelligence Agent(49)
