Scum Astromechs?

By Radzap, in X-Wing

Ok, so the Jumpmaster will have an Astromech slot, which will be the first large based ship to get one.

But will we ever see another Scum ship with a Mech slot? If not, the future for more mechs for scums seems really grim. Now that we see that the Kirhaz ain't getting one, anyone know of any more Scum ships that might get one?

If the Scurrg H-6 makes its way over from Armada to X-wing as a scum ship, it could well include a Havoc title card swapping crew for 2 astromechs.

In fairness, there are only three Rebel ships that can take astromechs, and it's a much bigger part of the Rebel identity than the Scum identity. I'd love to see some more mechs, but between Genius, the R4, and the Unhinged, I think we're pretty well set.

That would be awesome. Scum Astros combo really well together, but not quite as abusively as Rebels would (regen two shields or just R2 plus R2-D2 etc.

Imagine R4-B11 and R4 Agromech together. Roll dice, spend TL, spend Focus, gain TL spend TL to force your opponent to reroll green dice. 5 points for some quite consistent damage.

Unhinged and...well anything.

If it had enough Hull even the poor ol' Salvaged Astro would be viable on top of the other better options.

Hopefully the Jumpmaster 5000 and the H-6 are the Scum ship for the next wave. It would give them a chance to put in a few more (unique) Astros too.

Hopefully we do get more. Most people seem to gravitate towards Unhinged and the Aggromech. I haven't seen the uniques or Salvaged Astromechs see much play.

How are the Salvaged Astromechs anyway? Are they worth the two points to occasionally negate a ship crit?

Is R4-B11 any good outside of paired with Drea?

True that the droids don't get much love. Many of the astromechs are not that good for the asking point cost and most of them are defensive in a way but not enough. With only 3 ships that can take them (4 if you consider the scum-wing to be separate from the rebel Y-wing). The S&V defiantly needs at least 1 more ship to take a droid. Imperials again don't have any although I think the imperial epic ships will be the best to have an imperial droid.

My finger hasn't been on the X-Wing pulse so much lately (it's Bass fishing season)

when was the Jumpmaster announced for x-wing?

got a link?

Was there an announcement I missed or is this just really badly phrased speculation?

If it blocks a crit then it's a hull upgrade for a point cheaper.

Scum V-wing.

ARC-170 for rebels so K-wing can be be the pretty one.

It hasn't been announced, you haven't missed anything. This is just speculation. Highly likely eventually, but still speculation.

Since it's a rebel ship in Armada, I could see it being that way in X-Wing too. But maybe it will come out as a dual faction ship?! We still need Dengar and Zuckuss/4-LOM for Scum, so I bet Nym is Rebel. They can give Imperials the TIE Hunter next wave or something. I don't think they will get more bounty hunters.

Yes. I'm basing my speculation purely on the Jumpmaster being in Armada (which is infinitely COOL). Since they'll have a little model for that game, I don't see any reason for them not to scale it up!

" it's [astromechs] a much bigger part of the Rebel identity"

Correct, Astromechs are very much a Rebel thing.

Salvaged Astromechs are the sole property of Scums and Villains. Sorry, no sharing.

Cloakshape Fighters could come with R1s... but probably not since they were actually used in the hyperdrive sleds (like the rings for Aethersprite / Actis).

Maybe the R1 could still show up, though. That'd be neat.
