Worst combined green dice in a game?

By markcsoul, in X-Wing

I think me and my opponent on vassal might have just set a record!

We had a combined 2 evades out of 24 dice! I was 0/9, he was 2/15. He had some evade tokens to burn or it would have been even uglier, but I still won since I had more hit points to chew through and both our red dice did well after modifications.

Game ended with me getting 3 hits against a range 3 cloaked echo (no tokens) who didn't roll a single evade when he was at 1 shield gone.

Has anyone ever had worse than this??

did you post it to ladyluck?

that story makes me feel better i got 5 green blanks in a row on a ship i had double focus for defense (recon spec). Felt robbed :(

don't mind me

just passing through

Worst for me was not that bad, it was just the perfect stroke of bad at the worst possible time (regionals).

Enemy had a Han with Gunner and pimped-out A-Wing and generic A-Wing. Spread his forces out really well so there was no concentration of fire, but pretty much the entire board was covered. I was running three elite Interceptors with AT, and arc-dodged so beautifully it would make you weep - he only ended with one shot that turn, on that generic A-Wing, that I'd have three Interceptors fire on before it shot. So I fired one of my range-1 Interceptors...didn't damage him. Fired the second...some minor damage, not much. Shot the third (the range 2 guy he could shoot back at)...no damage.

So he took his range-2 shot. At an undamaged, focused, Carnor Jax. Oh, with hull upgrade. Rolled two dice...crit...crit. Fine, I roll 3 evade...all blanks. WTF?! Draw the two crits...direct hit...direct hit.

*&%^R)&*^*%*P

1/3 of my list gone, despite absolutely immaculate positioning, perfect maneuvers, amazing planning, superior list building...dice were all, like, 'frack that, man!' and 1/3 of my list gone in the opening shot of the game, and didn't even get any of the enemy's shields down.

That was one of the worst games I've played that is documented. My reds were so bad (+13 blanks, -12 hits/crits). Then to top that off, my opponents green dice were incredible (-8 blanks, +14 evades). It was basically a 26 damage difference, the equivalent of 3 full Bwings of damage. My greens and his reds were average, but I remember being so frustrated, when I would finally roll hits, he would get surplus evades. I can't remember ever having a 26 point damage swing from average like that in a game.

Oof, must really not be my day for xwing! Just had another game where my reds crapped out on me. I only got 16 hits&crits out of 50 dice (before modifying). I had 18 blanks, which means I got more blanks than hits & crits! Overall that's -9 below average. Doesn't help when he was +2 on evades, and had dual falcons, one with 3po and mf of course.

I was Mark's opponent in that game, and it ended in epic style. He fired three shots at a cloaked Phantom at Range 3 with a shield and 2 hull remaining... 5 blanks I think it was? Most spectacular explosion I have ever seen on the table top!

Just finished a game on vassal where my opponent went 6/18 for his evades against a YYYY BTL ion spam list.

The other day at a store tournament my opponent's opening volley was 11/12 hits before modifiers and I rolled 1 evade and 1 focus out of 8. On the next turn I had focused range 1 shots on an actionless B-Wing with my 3 bandits and did a total of 1 damage (he rolled 3/3 evades, I got a total of 4/9 hits after focusing). Thankfully I still managed to win but the dice turned what would have been a relatively easy match into an extremely close one.

Personal record is 2 evades on 17 green dice, 11 of those were with Focus...

At a tourney earlier this year I went 3/27 with 19 blank results. It was so preposterous that I had to keep track, oh my poor A-Wings took it square on the chin in that match. Stoopid green dice!

Last nite dice were red not green. B-wing vs Defender. Two range 1 and 1 range 2 attacks on consecutive turns. 11 dice rolled, 11 blanks turn up. Needless to say I lost that game.

it works both way ... last night my Karvil rolled 3 hits unmodified from 3 dice vs echo who rolled 4 green blanks :) first contact and echo only has 1 hit

I'm beginning to hatd dice as much as I hate Mondays!

I rolled 6 blanks vs. 4 hits for my cloaked and obstructed Phantom at Range 3. Leaving Kenkirk to fend for himself against a Leebo/Chewie Short Stack. That's about the time you just grab a beer and ride it out.

Accuracy corrector is a cure for that.

Hate the green dice

Take all your dice

Line them up.

Get a blow torch

Melt one, and let that be a lesson to the rest

It wasn't on Vassal, but the other night my friend was playing IG-B, and was defending at range 3, with autothrusters, through an asteroid, and rolled 5 eyes, but didn't have a focus token...so he couldn't even use his Autothruster bonus lol

An excellent suggestion. Do one red and one green. That way they know no one is exempt.

Just finished a game on vassal where my opponent went 6/18 for his evades against a YYYY BTL ion spam list.

Isn't that almost perfectly average?

18*3/8= 6.75

Sorry, wrote that at 1:15. He rolled 48 defence dice, and the odds had him staked at rolling 18 evades. He rolled 6 evades on 48 dice.

One the worst green dice verses red was a shot I got on off on a Phantom by a Hwk-290 Hawk. The Phantom was at range 3 with a stealth Device and cloaked. 6 green dice vs the Hawks 1 red. The dice roll and 1 hit to 6 blank evade dice.

I actually had another crazy game not long after my original post. Started out 0/18 for evades. Went 9/23 rest of the way to finish 9/41. Somehow I won that game though.
