Odd colour scheme and lighting for a falcon?

By TheHamster, in X-Wing

Now, I know the scheme is a little weird but I was just messing with an old falcon I had and wanted to practice some freehand. I've fitted engine lights and added some more damage to the back end. I also used a couple of 40k power swords to pimp the front end giving it an evil look.

Hope you like it :)

Color scheme is certainly unique. Your free hand detail is pretty solid though, do you do much of it at this scale?

Love the chainsaw mandibles

Thanks! Not a lot tbh. I've only recently got into x wing modding but I'm really enjoying it. All my equipment is at a friends house currently so I was left with bad brushes and limited paint selection (hence the colour combo). I'd like to get better though and the only way is to keep practicing.

There will be a few more weird posts to follow I'm sure as I try out techniques and explore ideas :)

While it is an odd choice of colours, the ship is certainly not badly painted. Yellow is without a doubt the most difficult colour to paint and yet you seem to have managed it just fine. I don't like the mandible mod however, I just can't see them as anything but 40k chainswords. I might be a bit boring that way.

hahahaha fair play. I never played 40k, just inherited lots of bits so to me they don't stand out as anything other than spikey sticks :) (if that is offensive to any 40k players, I apologise).

Yeah, yellow's a *****. lots of layers but not too thick, a horrible tightrope to walk :)

I guess the chainsaws were installed in case they accidentally park inside a giant space slug?
