We have Palpatine, Jade, and Vader. Next = Thrawn? Tarkin?

By KILODEN, in X-Wing

Am I the only one feeling like the Rebels have an huge number of crew options compared to the Empire?

when will they level that out. I know the scum have the least but the next wave is the 2nd wave to include them, so not that concerned, (but that being said, Boba crew card?)

Like Thrawn, the grand admiral = discard this card at the start of the combat phase. Then choose to either give all friendly ships an evade and focus token or prevent all enemy ships from using evade and focus tokens

Tarkin = when the ship Tarkin is on loses its last hull point, do not remove the ship. it is not destroyed. instead roll 1 attack per damage point above the ships starting hull value at the end of every turn. if any of these dice come up crit. then the ship is destroyed.

I like Tarkin's ability. Requirement you must quote "Evacuate in our moment of Triumph?? I think you overestimate their chances!!!"

There's certainly plenty of Imperial options to choose from still.

Firmus Piett, Lorth Needa, Kendel Ozzel, Maximillian Veers... Demetrius Zaarin...

These 3 are on the boat.

Tarkin is going to be awesome in Epic play.

Still sad I can't bring him along for regular games, though. And I'm still holding out hope we'll one day see him as a pilot, give that the recent canon Novel Tarkin establishes that he's a more than capable (though not super ace) fighter pilot.

Still sad though that neither Tarkin nor Needa may board large ships in regular play. It'd be fitting, much more than seeing them on this super-size imperial yacht...

I'd LOVE to see Thrawn, I could see him leading a corvette in a covert action, or as crew. For rules i'd have him as either a super intel agent, where you can see a few dials ahead of time, or change 1-2 of your own or changing one of your opponents dials.

You can't put Thrawn in the game, because no enemy ships could get close enough for an X-Wing scale battle, having been wiped out before then by his superior fleet tactics.

If you could play him In Armada . . .

I might get some hate mail for this but IMHO the less EU the better. Yeah I enjoyed the Zahn trilogy, probably the best of the EU, but it's not cannon now. Just let it go.

Thrawn in Armada? Seems likely.

Thrawn in X-Wing? Seems unlikely.

Oddest argument I've ever seen on this forum, considering we've been getting non-canon EU material since Wave 3...

For a while it was what they had to do to keep the game with fresh content. As time goes on I feel like the balance of Canon to Legends content will start skewing more towards Canon. With new films on the horizon (the Anthology films will actually fit in the games timeline) and Rebels, more and more Canon material will be showing up for them to dip into.

That said, I'm fine with Legends stuff.

I'm also fine with FFG coming up with their own stuff!

Or that is what he wants them to think.

uhhh, have you seen the cover photo on the latest star wars card pack? its Thrawn

Thrawn in X-Wing? Seems unlikely.

I would have said the same thing about Palpatine. And yet...

They'll probably have to eventually. Since there's way more Imperial and Scum ship types in the EU than there are Rebel ship types.

Thrawn can be wherever he wants.

I'm still waiting on Piett.

Captain Piett

Crew. Empire only. 6 points.

When this ship collides with another ship or an obstacle, you may choose another Crew card. If so, discard both the chosen card and this card to perform a free action. Then, add the Admiral Piett Crew to this ship.

Admiral Piett

Crew Empire only. * points.

All attacks made from your primary arc roll one additional attack die. If another ship collides with this ship, immediately discard this card. This card may not be equipped when building your squad.

Admiral Piett is the quintessential Imperial Naval officer. My fondness for him reflected in my signature.

Admiral Piett:

Add Vader as Crew, he just kills and does no damage to you. (0)pts. Empire only. Suck it Scum.

As for Thrawn, a discard seems inappropriate to me.

Maybe something like this:

Grand Admiral Thrawn

Crew. Imperial only. 6 points.

At the beginning of the Activation Phase, you may choose one friendly ship at Range 1-3; change that ship's Pilot Skill to 12 for the remainder of the turn.

It plays off of his reputation as the consummate tactician, able to maximize the impact of timing and maneuver.

Just a pity Tarkin can't be carried in a Shuttle. That would have made for a beautiful synergy-build option.

Admiral Piett: 4pts

If you have the Darth Vader Crew equipped, you may discard a crew card instead of taking damage whenever you use Vader's ability.

oooo!

how bout

Thrawn = All enemy ships at range 1-2 cannot use their EPT or pilot ability
