i was thinking of starting with generous donations followed by aftermath and then the normal progression of missions

(generous donations would not be available to go into the normal side mission selection process if done this way)

WHy start with donations?

I think if you start with "donations" before aftermath you might unbalance the somewhat tenuous balance the game already has.

Since it is your second campaign, I would potentially recommend NOT playing aftermath and just applying the opposite result of the first campaign. Get all the correct rewards (and potentially crate bonuses too) so as everyone starts the next mission with the correct amount of stuff. That way you could see the other story path.

Depending on how quickly you're looking to start your 2nd campaign, you may consider waiting for Twin Suns to be released (currently on the boat). It can be played as a mini campaign, or as side missions in the main campaign.
