On a positive note...Mini Campaigns.

I did pick up Trollfens last weekend. I'll need the Bolgoreth Lieutenant for it, but it looks pretty interesting.

Looking at it, it makes me wonder if I can sort of integrate the mini-campaigns into a full campaign. It seems as though during a Mini campaign, heroes don't have access to an ACT2 shop, yet have to play against ACT2 Monsters in the last quest. So Maybe, I can set it up so that just before the Interlude, ( The Mini calls for 4 exp for each hero so it would be after 4 main quests), the heroes can embark on this mini campaign, minus experience and shop steps. They would just do the 4 quests in succession, with the travel step in between and the last quest would have them deal with ACT2 monsters. Should I make it hardcore though and say they don't recover hearts between each quest? Or perhaps give them a two dice roll each after each quest and have them recover that amount between each quest. Of course, those quests would be taken out of the available rumor card deck at the beginning of each campaign, so it would be decided which mini campaign would take place at the time.

Do you mean instead of giving heroes 4 XP to start a mini campaign, having them play 4 Act 1 quests, then start a mini campaign? If so, I don't like that idea, because that's just a regular campaign that has 8 Act 1 quests and 1 Act 2 instead of 5 Act 1 and 4 Act 2. The whole benefit (in my opinion) of a mini campaign is that it contains fewer quests. It removes the initial slow part of a campaign so the heroes can jump right to using their classes at a mid level, and wraps up more quickly than a traditional campaign by having the majority of the story be Act 1. If I'm going to be investing the time and scheduling effort to go through 9 quests, our group is going to go for the full campaign experience. When there is a desire to experience characters and classes for less time than a full campaign, but more involved than a standalone, that's where the mini campaign is perfect.

Additionally, mini campaigns are already incorporated into full campaigns via the Rumor mechanic. That way, mini campaign quests can be interlaced with a main storyline to provide additional fluff, gold, and gear.

Mini campaigns do have a Act 2 shop step right after the interlude (after the heroes get to chance to buy from all act 1 items)

It's actually only in a normal campaign that you play the first act 2 quest with act 1 items.

And like Zaltyre says, the quests are added through rumor cards. It works pretty well in my opinion.

Well as was stated before, when dealing with the Transition to ACT2 phase, that FF didn't want people having an ACT2 shopping phase until after the first ACT2 Quest. So if that's the case, then I'm not sure that you are correct. And it would be a normal campaign, it would just be that the Mini Campaign would be treated like 4 quests in succession with the last one using ACT2 Monsters and Travel steps in between. Sorta like a 4 encounter Rumor quest almost.

Its an official answer...?

What you say is true, but only for the full campaigns, not for the mini campaigns,. Since the first act 2 quest is also the last, you get an act 2 shopping step.

And I know that in your idea it would be a full campaign, so it wouldnt matter. I just wanted to inform you that the whole reason you plan to do this is based on misinformation (at least based on that official answer)
