Boba Fett preview

By Reiryc, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

He looks really good!

At 13 points for the campaign I don't think he will be in play a lot, but when he is, he will be fun to use!

Battle discipline is really nice. Along with 3 dice, one of them being yellow, it should be quite easy to roll squigleys (surge).

I'm guessing based on how it's written, that you declare which ability is available before you roll the dice, thus leaving out the other choices. ie, you can't decide which one to use after the dice have been rolled.

No disintegrations is interesting. As long as you don't miss you get 2 threat. Might be nice in the early missions when threat income is low and it carries over throughout the whole campaign.

Can we all pretty much agree that "Jump Jets" will now be present in every single command deck from now on?

So many interesting things to talk about...

First of all, Boba Fett looks amazingly fun to play. 6 Speed/Mobile is already enough to make him a fun figure to field, but his other abilities provide a lot of unique choices. Battle Discipline gives you flexibility but also forces you to really plan ahead.

Do I snipe from afar using his innate accuracy?
Do I try to do more damage?
Do I play more defensively and try to recover?

Do I use my surges to weaken the enemy instead?

Do I go into melee range to lock down an enemy figure?

Boba Fett has so many unique strategic choices to make and unique choices are what make figures fun.

The Explosive Armaments Skirmish Upgrade is interesting too:

Realistically this card would only ever be played on IG88 or Boba Fett. What do you guys think? Auto-include when fielding these figures? I could see it being very good on Scum Fett because he has such a high chance to roll surges.

Also, did anyone notice this Agenda card?

2 Attacks AND automatic 4 damage? Does anyone else think this is stupidly strong for only 1 influence? Let's say you use it with Boba Fett. Each attack has the potential to do around 5-6 damage, plus the automatic 4. That's easily enough to do 10-12 damage in one activation, more than enough to wound most heroes, even from full health. I'd buy this card even if it was 3 influence...

The attacker takes the 4 damage not the target.

It's the attacke, ie boba in your example that suffers 4.

But as you said, interesting choices because if he chooses the heal 2 damage option, it's not out of line.

Boba Fett would take the auto 4 damage not the defender, it says the "attacker suffers 4 damage"

Offensively you could probably get better bang for 13 threat. But he definitely looks like he'd be a Villian that would stick around on the battlefield for a long time, throwing a constant wrench in the heroes plans. Though I don't see him defeating any heroes himself commonly.

As for his agenda cards, No disintergration is kinda risky since you have to deplete it before even knowing if it'll work or not. Plus it costs 2 influence and could end up as dead weight. I'm not sure what exactly constitutes a 'miss', does it just need to reach them or do damage also?

By any means necessary is an ok card IMO. Would go great with a trandoshan in melee range that is about to die. But I don't think it'd be worth the risk on Boba Fett or IG-88.

I think, Boba Fett's great. I'm really looking forward to play him.

Boba Fett has so many great surge options, that I don't think, that he'll have much use for the upgrade. The same is true for IG-88.

Other figures that do not have THAT many great surge óptions seem a better choice for this card. An auto-include? Don't think so.

Walking with smuggled goods? No: Use Jump Jets!

It was more useful with the old maps. Its a sweet card but there is not a lot of terrain on the new maps other than Luke's map and a few spots on IG88 maps that is useful to use. Yeah you can jump figures but I think there are better cards that could be used.

I think the upgrade is best used bringing in Gideon and or Biv to the Mercs.

If explosive Armaments can be equipped to C-3PO or R2-D2 then it's getting done every skirmish, for the novelty factor alone.

Really excited for boba fett. Looking forward to running a Merc squad with him at the next tournament.

Two down, four to go. I can't wait to have all six ESB bounty hunters!

I think he will be a great sniper, he will be able to hit at range 6 at least all the time.

I like him. But I've always been a Boba Fett fan. He will definitely be go to guy for skirmish.

Me too. I'll be using Boba in like...ALL my skirmish squads! Because he's awesome for 13pts. And because he's...BOBA FETT!!!!

Seriously, this guy is gonna be fun! And I love his Mandalorian Tactics card: that is some serious firepower!

I doubt he'll be doing any serious damage without taking the surge:+2 damage option. The +2 accuracy seems like it's best for finishing off a already VERY injured unit or to apply weaken to a distant target. To me, it looks like Boba Fett is meant to be in the thick of it, surrounded by the rebel heroes, his mobile ability even lets him jump into the group or escape it easily. If they focus on him, they are wasting time, if they run from him, they are taking strain damage and constantly have a man harassing them with weaken and a stream of damage.

If it's a sniper you want, I think IG-88 or an E-web would be better.

What happens with the 1 cost of the Attachment /Skirmish Upgrade if the attached Figure is defeated? Does my opponent also score the 1 point?

Don't think so. It's a Scum card.

why can't you bring in r2 or C3PO via Tempo?

A lot of people believe he's overrated based on how pathetically lame he is in the movies. And that he's only a badass in the EU because the EU was written by people that liked him in spite of how useless he is in the movies.

Ironically, I think Jango from Ep II (the worst movie) is the character that most people envision when they think of Boba.

But he's definitely a badass in this game.

I thought Muz333 meant using this combination in a Rebels list.

Boba Fett was that popular before the Expanded Universe even started to exist. His screentime/merchandise-sales ratio was record breaking from the start.

Boba Fett was the first mail-away action figure created for The Empire Strikes Back, and was even released before the start of the movie and he was promoted as "the most notorious bounty hunter in the galaxy".

You could just have Saska Teft to get the scum card into you Rebel deck.
