Really bad idea: Squad Leader Soontir Fel

So looking at the punisher and noticing it lack of an ept I was trying to think of some ways to try and increase his action economy when it suddenly hit me, what about squad leader? It really hurts soontir's defense by only giving him 2 actions rather than 3 and losing a stealth device but this also can setup some interesting combinations between other pilots as well. Load up a cutlass or scimitar pilot and now it has some wonderful action economy without need of an ept. Deathrain can drop his prox mines or cluster mines and still get a nice modified dice attack on an enemy of boost out of the way. All those tie advance can still be super mean with their fancy sensors as well. Rhymer can also get predator now because Soontir gives him great action economy Sure Soontir would have to be flown totally different in Riis senario but I think it could be fun in casual and possibly effective in competitive if done right

While hilarious, this is a pretty terrible idea. Why not use Vader who is actually extremely good with Squad Leader and still has PS9.

SL soontir fel will be good with other Interceptors. However that is flying it in formation and Interceptors are notoriously fragile. Also this list doesn't deconstruct well. Either soontir will be focused down like Howrunner and only have the autothrusters to protect him or soontir will be the last ship left and the EI won't be used thus his ability will never trigger unless he stresses himself or hits a debris cloud (both are bad ideas).

I like Sqd Leader + EI on Turr Phennir. Proc'ing SL + EI off the free Boost/BR action. Once combat starts nobody on the board should be moving in and out of arcs.

Ah, a common misconception: Despite what you may think, Soontir Fel doesn't actually have an EPT. He does, however, have the correct combination of upgrade options to take the other 3 points for his correct pilot pricing of 30pts. I understand these days it's popular to load him up with a range of different modifications; that part is up to you, the player. :)

Use Vader instead. He natively gets double actions, so can keep one to tank the incoming fire, and even when all his buddies are dead... well, two points might've been usable somewhere else, but he's still Vader. Even without his EPT, he's going to remain plenty terrifying, and there's nothing must-take for him. Plenty of lovely options; nothing compulsory.

That's really quite a nifty little idea!

Squad Leader + VI Tycho. Squad leader at init 10- noone else can match that.

I've found squad leader & experimental interface on vader very good.

Usually have maarek stele with wingman next to him to ditch vaders stress.

This allows focus evade on both tie advanceds while they get target locks early on some high priority target to get their advanced targeting computers to kick in.

Best vector for Squad Leader, in my opinion, is Keyan Farlander with an Experimental Interface.

I was toying with a list that includes a Cutlass pilot and a squad leader black squadron TIE ln. Basically it's extra munitions, protons, and clusters so you've got a solution for every range. Twice. Thinking about adding seismic charges for the lulz.
