Bye Bye Defender, Bye Bye Advance The Punisher will pwn you all.

By Marinealver, in X-Wing

I flew freelancer ships back then ... and a humble Tie Fighter now and then. So my experience with Tie Aggressors is limited to flying against them in battle. And they were pretty nasty.

You had to keep an eye at you front shields no matter if you approach them head-on or from behind. Better kill them with missiles or outgun them with a heavy fighter.

Yup, a sneaky cheap way that helped was to actually target the rear gun in your targetter (you could choose engine/gun/reactor if i recall). After a burst of overloaded level 8 reverse engineer generally they went fast.

I flew almost everything but specialized with the Y-wing.

We've only had the one image with the templates in-scale with the bases; the one in which Deathrain demonstrates Clusters vs a Large Base ship.

Pretty sure we can use that image to determine the rest of it...

That's how I decided to use the bases as proxies for the actual templates. If you look at the base of the Punisher it's about the same size as each of the mines. The mines being rounded will make them a little bit smaller than a small base. I expect that the images I posted will be fairly close to accurate, it's just the ones that barely overlap that I'm not sure about.

The is no question that Deathrain will have the ability to avoid his own mines, it's just a matter of which maneuvers in which directions will be able to make it happen.

All of these assume that Deathrain did a barrel-roll forward when dropping the mines.

Will make it:

Straight 2 and 3

4 K-Turn

Any bank or turn made away from the mines

Might make it:

1 straight

2 and 3 bank towards the mines

Probably won't make it:

3 turn towards the mines

Won't make it:

2 turn towards the mines

1 bank towards the mines

Real question for me is will it be possible to detonate 3 on a small ship at once? If not you can just put it so the last mine is right in front of them, but I'm still curious.

get a set up turn before with an ion shot from any ship (i like ion on shuttles) force them to fly through.

Look at the K-Wing closely. The upper turret is the upgrade turret, as you can see at the artwork of the Twin Laser Turret Upgrade.

Could you shoot at your 6 without blasting your own engines off? Answer: No.

Does the K-Wing have a 180° restriction for the turret upgrade? Answer: No. Reason: Because.

Should the Tie Aggressor have arc restrictions for the turret upgrade? Answer: No. Reason: Because of the same reasons.

why is it facing the wrong way the base makes it seem it should be the other way.

Nope. You might be able to catch them in two but for all three to detonate on a small ship it will require having one in their path.

Probably because it makes for a better picture. The card is easier to read in the direction that it is facing than it would be to read upside down.

Wait, when did ordinance get good?

Proton bomb is doing well on Firesprays. There's a lot of Corran Horn (E-Wing) lists out there, and Mr Horn fears the proton bomb.

BTW ordinance with an 'i' is a rule or command. Ordnance without the 'i' is the military stuff that explodes.

The ordnance was ordinated to be good by ordinance of the ordnance committee.

Darius, you joined the Stormtroopers? ^^

No longer in the Imperial Navy?

Only Stormtrooper on this board :-)

Storm Commando, use XG-1's for Recon duties including landing, camoing the ship and ground recon.

I'll give you cover.

Sounds good. I'm going to be writing a TIE/XVT campaign soon based after ROTJ. Got a metric f**ktonne of notes down. It might have Galactic battleground components too. The big thing is that the Imperial force (A modified Victory II, and it's support craft) Don't get reinforcements (often) and will probably have to make some questionable decisions just to escape the Endor system - let alone bring together and aid loyalist forces.

Basically the Adjudicator (Nicknamed "Judy" by it's crew) was undergoing refit which delayed it joining the fleet at Endor, it arrives a day late...

Being home to a recon wing with seriously modified Interceptors, Bombers and a specops group in Phantoms/Defenders/Avengers it has serious clout - of course politicians hated the idea, being a very expensive wing - especially as the VSD sacrificed the capacity to hold it's ground support craft for it.

I've been throwing around whether to do co-op XVT or single play TIE (and have the players run individual missions and flight record to send back on a weekly basis) to record wins/losses. If my PC could handle it well, XWA would have been my best bet, but that leaves a load of technical problems on it's own.

Either way, the crew of judy and it's flight wings have to fight their way out of the Endor catastrophe and escape system, losing as little of their ships as possible, and maybe safeguarding Imperial assets.

And that's just chapter 1.

That sounds even better.

I'll stay tuned to read more about this.

Yeah I just need to hash out the logistics.

Take your time. There is no reason to be hasty. The Galaxy is ours anyway. We just need to protect the citizens and imperial property and all will be fine.

Oh not even gonna start until my move's done. Hell the Debate between using TIE or XVT (or even XWA) will probably last a couple of months. Once I have that sorted.. well, I know how to use XVTED and thanks to GOG TIE and XVT are a thing again, i'll probably host the plot on a facebook page. Missions/plot points will be all based on player input.

but crits haven't been much of a thing.

Never seen the Imperial Tie Arm going Numb?
