Both lists spit out 12 Cluster Mines a piece, for a total of 36 templates put on the board.
And that's awesome.

You are going to be able to stack two sets of mines in the same place with Advanced sensors.

Move, action, drop mine. Next turn Advanced Sensor, drop another mine and move out.

Better to do a 1 Bank with Clusters, as that way you make an X.

Note: Each Cluster Mine template is expected to deal 2 dice of 3/8 damage a pop... or .75 damage a template. 2.25 if you land all 3 templates from your action.

That means, if you manage to land all 36 of them, that's an expectation of 27 Damage!

I love this, as it takes care of the Pic and Gorc meta quite well, but completely eats the Aggressor for lunch.

Too bad we won't ever actually see that many Cluster mines out on the table in a real game. 36 Cluster mines might be just for Vassal.

Official FAQ, Page 2:

"A ship may only drop one bomb per round."

Edit:

Now I get it. Sorry. :D

You're placing the second mine in the next round, so you're allowed to place it again.

I love your fellow love of TIE Bombers. TIE Bomber pilots unite!

We demand a forum avatar, too!

It really bugs me that the Bomber isn't the best ship for bombs in the game.

It is the better cheap ordnance platform though. I think the 5 point tax will keep the punisher generics out of most builds since that's the same price as scimitar with em and proximity or various torpedo or missile options.

The Tie Bomber is still the cheapest bomb carrier and it has the same amount of attack dice and more survivability per point cost. Keep in mind, that all those shenanigans, that make the Tie Punisher so good at bombing cost points as well. Deathrain with Impr. Sensors, Proximity Mines and Extra Munitions costs 34 points. For 38 points, you get two bombers with Proximity Mines, which have more attack dice, more defense dice, more arcs, more hp. You get the picture.

I think it's fine, that a successor of the Tie Bomber is better at bombing, as long as you have to pay a suitable amount of squad points for it.

Yeah, but the K-Wing and the Andrasta as well?

I don't agree, the TIE bomber is still the cheapest way to bring bombs to the table.

Ok, cheapest doesn't mean best but cheapest is still cheapest and the TIE bomber is still great for its cost.

That is going to require a lot of TIE Interdicter/Punisher purchases to get all the tokens for a build like that....

All I have is bombs on the brain for wave 7.

Gonna need more Conner nets and Cluster mines...
