Maximising The Defender

Protected by 6 hitpoints and 3 evade dice too...

Making it less predictable is bloody huge. I will say that. The rest needs testing.

Evade dice only matter when we are complaining about phantoms...or did you not get that memo?

Are they still way OP? like Fat Hans?

Is it still 2014??? DID I TIME TRAVEL! OMGODZORS! Guys Warhammer 9th comes out and you can play fantasy space marines, and the Imperials get an Epic ship!

Further fixes could still happen. honestly I'd pay 2 points to remove my missile in place of a systems slot.

Yeah, that combo is brutal.

If the Defender had 4 natural shields instead of 3 .... the DD MK.II would be my signature list.

The most common complaint I see about the defender is the dial you now pay one point to go a long way toward fixing the problem.

Were you hoping for a boring unimaginative cost reduction? And why would something like that come with a non defender ship?

the most common complaint is, imo, missing the point of the ship

the one I'd pay most attention to is Juggler's. Apparently the defender has the same jousting efficiency as the named PWTs. If there's any weakness to the ship, it's cost first.

We may still get a imp aces 2 featuring defenders you never know.

I personally thought defender movement was fine i'd mastered the dial pretty much this is just a cherry on top.

For a unique Defender fix we would probably either see a Title that reduces the cost of a cannon, or a tractior beam (but this may prevent HLCs) Double tapping with a cannon (I've seen that floated around before) probably won't happen because we have BTL-A4 and IG-88B

PTL is great... but Defender without Outmanouver??? >_< I can't live without it.

I need to try the new Engines, but I don't liked them too much.

Today I won a game where my defender was left alone vs an E-Wing and a Turreted HWK. I managed to kill both with magic k-turns + outmanouver + some Ions. Was awesome :D . The worst part is that I spent 43 points in Rexler just for Pilot Skill 8. His ability sucks. If Vesery would have PS 8...

I disagree on his ability sucking. His ability is boss...it's just super hard to use, which, given it's potential power it should be.

Defender is that it is _at least_ 1/3 of your list, and more likely 1/2 your list. The big problem is that it's not durable enough to justify being that much of your list.

The Mk2 gives you lots of greens, but no increase in durability. PTL would be a great defensive boost if the Defender had an Evade action. Alas.

PTL is a great offensive upgrade for the Defender- and offensive upgrades can be thought of as defensive upgrades, given the right exchange rate.

How else can we generate stress to add defense? Elusiveness springs to mind. Anything else?

I would say 150. The games opens up so much more at that level.

More specifically: the PS1 Defender's jousting efficiency is about the same as Rear Admiral Chiraneau when you properly account for the PS bid (which FFG never does for expensive ships, hence partly why he is such a good value).

Spending one more point does nothing to fix the generics. The named Defenders are already better than their lower PS brethren, and could make use of green banks, like PtL Rexler. Vessery is really wishing he could take evade as an action and get 3 effective actions per turn...

That's OK, the math says that Vessery is a great value if you can load up Target Locks for him... you'll have to wait for the Raider to arrive with TIE Advanced fixes first though!

Give him a Heavy Laser Cannon for extra funsies. Just make sure he has some high PS wingmen to strip the tokens first...
