True, I guess had they allowed EPTs they would've had to go with different native pilot skills. Don't get me wrong I like what they've done with the heavy bomber elite pilots, the whole package just feels a little short of fixing ordnance - more than happy, nay hopeful, that time will prove me wrong.

Now back to deadeye recce spec combos with EM.... Hmmmm... Options?

Slave1? Decorators? Will have to see if there are any interesting builds that aren't too gimmicky.

I agree, they probably would have chosen different abilities if they were keeping Talents on the table. I'm also very excited about the new ordnance though, and I think it's going to be at least relevant if not prevalent.

As far as Deadeye/RecSpec, the main issue is that there's no ship with Crew that can do it with more than Extra Munitions and one other ordnance slot. I love Nera Dantels like this, using a Fire-Control System to keep Locks and blast away happily, but she's pretty fragile (EM will at least make her more cost effective!). Otherwise, you've got one missile on the Slave I that gets to double up, and the Decimator only has a Bomb slot after equipping EM. That's it.

Good points.

I really like the idea of this combo:

Nera Dantels — B-Wing 26

Deadeye 1

Advanced Sensors 3

Advanced Proton Torpedoes 6

Extra Munitions 2

Recon Specialist 3

B-Wing/E2 1

Ship Total: 42

Lethal at close range, Adv Sendors over FCS to allow for a focus before a bump, then being able to shoot someone behind her with focused APTs!

As you said, just a little too fragile for almost half your list points and everyone will try and stay out of range one!

I've actually been looking into using her alongside Esege Tuketu for some Deadeye/FCS funtimes with Plasma Torps and Extra Munitions (7 points altogether! Compared to the 6 just for APTs). Fire with main guns on approach, acquire Lock, 2-turn away from fight, Focus, spend Focus to launch Torp, keep TL and use Esege's Focus for dice modification!

I like it, but as you said she's far too expensive.

Nice - some evocative imagery there too!

So Scum's take on the combo:

Mandalorian Mercenary — Firespray-31 35

Deadeye 1

Cluster Mines 4

Recon Specialist 3

Cluster Missiles 4

Extra Munitions 2

Slave I 0

Ship Total: 49

The obvious name for this combo is the Cluster ****!

Recce spec focus pairs nicely with Cluster Missiles!

Okay yeah that's amazing. I like the idea a lot, and double-firing Clusters any time you double Focus sounds ridiculous and amazing, especially at big targets. What I wouldn't give to shove six dice up Threepio's gasket.

Unfortunately, I think I'd prefer Predator and K4 on the Mando Merc, along with the EM and Clusters. A little more expensive, but Predator keeps working after the missile bays are empty (again, why it costs three times as much as Deadeye!).

You could do the same list with Krassis, with the exception of Deadeye for only 45 pts. I think the re-roll ability could be worth it over the loss of Deadeye.

Imp Firespray is far from dead! That sounds solid! I'd probably swap the Mines for a Cannon with Krassis too at that point.

I looked at the Trelix option, but steered away with the lack of Deadeye as an option. The need for a target lock should not be underestimated, it's that action economy that has greatly challenged ordnance from the outset. Out of range, lock on the wrong target, a lock but no focus to modify dice, etc. these are alleviated in the Deadeye-Recce Spec combo: "Hmmmm now let me see I'll focus and see who ends up in arc and then I'll get a (re-)focused cluster combo shot at them."

Don't doubt there could be some evil Trelix builds with the new ordnance with or without EM!
