Both Sides Routed?

By Mystrunner, in Forbidden Stars

Hey all,

Brief rules question that we weren't able to figure out... what do you do if both sides are routed?

You play out all three rounds of combat like normal. The only difference is that when all units are routed, any unit can be chosen when dealing out damage. At the end of round three of combat, if both players still have at least one unit in the area, then total up morale to determine the winner (not counting the morale from the units because they are routed), with the defender winning a tie.

...of course, if the attacker's units were routed before combat began, then they would not have been able to move into the enemy area to begin with.

That makes sense! Thanks!

I've seen this mentioned before. Where in the rules does it say routed units can't move?

Check page 11 of the Rules Reference. The relevant text is buried in a list, but you should be able to find this:

A routed unit can retreat; however, it cannot move or be placed in a different area by an order or card effect.
