Most Obscene Lightsaber Build

By Angelalex242, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

So far, the nastiest Lightsaber build I've found is:

Krayt Dragon Pearl (with all mods)

Curved hilt (all mods)

Shadowsheath (all mods)

Quality Hilt (all mods)

Can anyone do better then this 11 Damage Crit 1 Garunteed Advantage in single combat Breach 1 Sunder Vicious 4 Defensive 1 concealed weapon of quality monster?

Shadows heath has mods?

No, but it's great if you don't want people to know you have it.

Oh I asked because you put all mods but there were none

I don't think shadowsheath works with the Lightsaber.

Why not? In Oggdude's character generator, it was listed as something you could put on it.

I don't think shadowsheath works with the Lightsaber.

Based on the errata, the Shadowsheath "may be attached to any weapon with an Encumbrance of two or less."

Just as well. In Edge of the Empire or Age of Rebellion, anyone with a Lightsaber would really rather nobody saw it.

Where does Quality Hilt appear? And what does it do.

I thought maybe it was Superior Hilt, but it's missing the other superior quality: 1 auto advantage on checks. So it would have 2 in single combat and 1 when fighting groups.

Well, I think it's a pretty beardy lightsaber, but for a focused force user, i.e. one who focuses on using force powers more than the lightsaber, having the Dantari crystal might be better, not as high damage, but whenever you perform a Force Power check you can spend excessive force pips to regain Strain. Unless my interpretation of the Dantari crystal is too generous of course, it does say combat check, so strictly speaking that could be interpreted as attacks with the lightsaber, but I assume there are applications of other force powers that can count as combat checks too?

I also think the Barab Ingot rivals that of the Krayt Pearl, as when it's fully modded it has burn 3 (which means three rounds of weapon base damage that also have the Breach 1 quality) and 2 vicious, now add in extended hilt, superior hilt and, if you allow such, curved hilt and we have 10 damage, vicious 3, 1 auto advantage, 1 additional auto advantage when engaged with one opponent, burn 3... and you can regain strain for force pips... (that was a mistake).

Now I agree that combining extended and curved hilt may seem like powermongering, but hey, there doesn't seem to be a restriction against it and to me it can make sense. Although limiting hilt attachments to 1+superior does also make sense.

The Dragite gem can similarly make for a really funky crystal and fun play, adding up to 3 rounds to Disorient and Concussive, so you can stagger your opponent too. That's a style I'd like, sure it's got low damage, but you can do so much fun and if you're a tad on the dark side, this crystal can be used to torture your opponents basically... staggering them to taunt them, disorienting them so they get setbacks for rounds on end...

Now if you pick the Lightsaber Pike, give it a Lorrdian Gemstone, dual-phase mod and superior hilt... full mod it all:

Damage 8, crit 2, Breach 1, Defensive 3, Deflection 2, auto advantage and ignore melee defence once per encounter. That's pretty nice too, or you could drop the dual-phase and slap on extended for another point of damage and the curved hilt too, just because ;) :P

using your build how is the damage 11? the krayt dragon pearl only has 10 if you mod it with the damage modification. to get 11 you would have to have a mephite crystal from what i can see

  • Encumbrance: 1
  • Hard Points: 5
  • Rarity: 10
  • Price: 32,900
  • Damage: 11
  • Range: Engaged
  • Critical: adv
  • Skill: Lightsaber
  • Qualities: Breach 1, Sunder, Vicious 4, Defensive 1, Superior

Attachments: Krayt Dragon Pearl (Changes Base Damage to 9 Mod, Changes Base Critical Rating to 1 Mod, 1 Quality (Breach 1) Mod, Quality (Sunder) Mod, 4 Quality (Vicious 1) Mods, 1 Damage +1 Mod), Curved Hilt (1 Quality (Defensive 1) Mod, Adds automatic adv to successful Lightsaber combat checks when engaged with a single opponent.), Shadowsheath (Increases the difficulty of any checks made to detect the sheath or the weapon it holds by two), Superior Hilt Personalization (Quality (Superior) Mod)

...I dunno, but Oggdude's generator put it at 11. Go figure.

I prefer the Krayt Dragon Pearl, Extended Hilt, Superior.

11 Damage, +40 Crits, and you're going to be critting -alot- as the KDP gives you Crit rating 1

Extended hilt, on Oggdude, shows...

  • Encumbrance: 1
  • Hard Points: 5
  • Rarity: 10
  • Price: 34,200
  • Damage: 12
  • Range: Engaged
  • Critical: adv
  • Skill: Lightsaber
  • Qualities: Breach 1, Sunder, Vicious 5, Superior

Attachments: Krayt Dragon Pearl (Changes Base Damage to 9 Mod, Changes Base Critical Rating to 1 Mod, 1 Quality (Breach 1) Mod, Quality (Sunder) Mod, 4 Quality (Vicious 1) Mods, 1 Damage +1 Mod), Superior Hilt Personalization (Quality (Superior) Mod), Extended Hilt (1 Damage +1 Mod, 1 Quality (Vicious 1) Mod)

Yep, was doing my calculations AFB from memory. It is what I like to call the Samurai Saber, built for the Jedi who wants to land the most killing blows as quickly as possible

Well, my saber has a slightly higher critrate in exchange for a slightly lower base damage.

Though it only has that extra crit rate in single combat. Still, that free advantage can mean a lot when it matters more how often you crit then how much each crit does.

Agreed, the Curved Hilt saber is superior for dueling, where the Extended Hilt is more utilitarian. Have you tried maybe throwing on a Dual Phase? Ignoring the Melee defense for a single strike to try and go for a Kill-shot Crit?

The superior quality also adds +1 damage. That may be here the extra damage is coming from.

Another interesting combination could be an Ataru Strike build with a double bladed lightsaber with a KDP and Extended (or curved depending on your proclivities).

Damage:11

Critical: 2

Qualties: Breach 1, Linked 1, Sunder, Unwieldy 3, Vicious 5

You get the Linked, and as an Ataru Striker, you'll be high enough AGL to cancel out the Unwieldy, and you have the Vicious 5 from the previous builds. It will be tough to crit -and- activate linked, but it gives you more options, which are always good. And its 4k cheaper, but I don't think you're really worried about that when you're dropping 30k+ creds on a lightsaber (which isn't even the hard part)

Well, I think it's pretty much expected that a Jedi's going to dump all his credits on his Lightsaber (and maybe the hardpoints on his robes. Or a deflector shield, if the Jedi wants to say 'The Force is doing it' instead of a device. Mechanics is the same, more suitable fluff). What else is he gonna use 'em for? A Jedi craves not material things.

Clearly this would be the most obscene lightsaber build:
