So, I'm thinking about getting back into UFS

By Trothael, in UFS General Discussion

Thanks to my latest 40k army costing almost nothing, I've got some discretionary income lying around and nothing to spend it on. I noticed my old Chun-Li deck lying around and thought I'd get back into UFS, but I realise that the game has probably changed quite heavily in the 3 years since I last played ^_^ ;;

So, can you guys recomend any particular decks to me? What's the meta like nowadays? What are the best boosters to buy?

what are the best boosters to buy? well there's only 3 sets to choose from right now, depending on what format you're playing. Soul Calibur 4, ShadoWar, and Tekken 6. Enjoy!!!

Hey, I post HULK SMASH rarely, and we do not really playHULK SMASH that often, but from what happens HULK SMASHwhen we do, and HULK SMASHfrom what I've HULK SMASHread, it seems the block 4HULK SMASH meta can be constructed HULK SMASHseveral ways

there is very little HULK SMASHto no control HULK SMASHfor the game, as compared to last HULK SMASH set where chesters backing HULK SMASHwas an HULK SMASH auto-include, and 9/10 decks packed HULK SMASH Ocladan's ass. Now you see very heavy attack HULK SMASH based foundations and assets, and very little negation HULK SMASH, or at least negation HULK SMASH that can be reused HULK SMASH again, and again, and again... HULK SMASH Very little damage redux HULK SMASH. speed is now quite HULK SMASH important, especially when most blocks HULK SMASH on foundations are a +3 or more HULK SMASH, and the good blocks comes on HULK SMASH attacks, and the more you pack HULK SMASH attacks, the more your rolls HULK SMASH sucks. I hardly see 6 checks HULK SMASH, except when people pack HULK SMASH characters HULK SMASH (which a couple of guys stacks really HULK SMASH well). If you go for a more control game HULK SMASH, go for Lu Chen HULK SMASH or Rashotep HULK SMASH. If you go for aggro HULK SMASH, go for... anyone else

HULK SMASH

Enjoy

Wow. Hulk Smash is right.

The game is very agressive at the moment with elements of control supporting early - mid game ending assaults. On average games are quicker, and consistently so with certain characters.

If you have some money to spend I suggest buying 1 box of Tekken, 1 box of Shadowar, and 1 box of Soulcal IV, then buy 1/2 starters from the characters you think you like out of Shadowar and/or Soulcal.

Really, with this type of investment, ~60+60+60+10+10, or ~200 US dollars you are looking at having what you need to build a multittude of characters, and have nearly 70-80% of what is legal at the moment.

Yo Dut , we still need to get that game o' KH in, a'ight?

I've got mebbeh £100 to spend, so $200 sounds about right.

Lookin' through my old TCG trade folder, I found I've got a SoulCal Amy Promo Player card, so I was considering building a deck around that, or fixing up my Chun Li deck.

A friend of mine was a UFS tourney pro from somewhere in Africa, and he's got a decent supply of cards for me to partake of if necessary.

That we do, I got a new deck built as of last weekend, should be a real fun one to play.

What we are looking at in UFS is a rotation of legal cards in the standard format, i.e. that Amy is playable only in legacy competitions. Which is fine, Legacy is great, and I encourage you to play it. If you are especially interested in 'that' Amy I've actually built her a deck before with somewhat Legacy cards, and I'd have no problem sending it to you as a starting out point.

That said, the standard format 'might' see an infusion of a newer Amy card in early December and the launch of the next SoulCal set ^^

Definately get together with your friend though and see what type of stuff he is interested in playing. i.e. if your playerbase, those you might play against, play a lot of legacy then build legacy. If they are hard into standard then buy some of what I suggested and you are pretty much set.

Urgh...that'd be difficult on a regular basis since he's an hour of travel away, via train.

Legacy looks a'ight, I'm giving it a scan now and looking for local tournaments. Danke schon for the recomendation.

Well, you've got 3 sets to build from in the current block, with the 4th one coming out in December and some sort of "fight night kit" coming out hopefully in the year.

It all depends on who you're building. SCIV and SW come with very "neutral" good cards, as in, not character-specific. A lot of Tekken cards are only good within their character, but that's because Tekken chars are awesome.

If you're going to be like a mass majority of this game and play Fire, buy a Shadowar box and find some Astrid and Ragnar starters. I'd advise buying a Tekken box, as 99 cards is not too hard to collect.
