I'm in love with Mon mothma. She makes my fragile rebel ships extra nimbly bimbly and survivable so that they can actually stand a chance at closer range.

the ability is real nifty when it comes into play, but mostly it's his incredibly cheap asking price that lets me squeeze in another essential upgrade such as a title or an intel officer

Screed all the way.
I was using Mon Mothma but am working towards Dodonna because while the evade token can possibly negate an ACM strike, Dodonna let's me punish them more
Admiral Motti has kept my VSDs alive more times than I care to admit.
I find it hard to take anyone but Screed for the Imperials.

As costly as he is Tarkin is pretty cool. I can imagine him proving his worth in larger games.
But for now, its either Motti or Screed.

I run double NebB's with one or two CR90's, so Mon Mothma doesn't really help me too much, and that's just points wasted on half my fleet most times. Plus, nothing is as fun as grabbing a stack of cards and choosing that really nasty Crit.
I'm trying out both Motti and Screed, just to see if I can get away from Tarkin. With a VSD or two tarkin is just so useful.
I think Tarkin is great when you are planning for their use such as liaisons. Motti is treat when your battle plan is survival, and Screed is amazing when you want to use critical effects of cards.
As soon as I had access to Mon Mothma I never looked back. With a fleet based around Nebulon Bs I'm going to end up at medium range sooner or later and she keeps the corvettes alive in most games. She also gives some defence against fighters and bombers which can be handy, especially for the corvettes.
Rebel: almost always Dodonna. For his low price - and very useful ability.
Imperial: Screed. I love Tarkin too - but with 300 pts fleets he's just too pricey.

For Rebs: Garm Bel Iblis. He gives me a lot of options out of the gate and makes me really work hard to make that 5th round extra special.
For Imps: Admiral Motti. I like the fact that I don't have to pay attention to what he does every single turn.
Screed, because Gladiators.

Been using Screed so far, but may well be trying Motti on my next fleet.
Garm Bel Iblis. He's my all time favorite Star Wars EU/Legends character so naturally I picked him to command my rebel fleet.
When I build an Imperial fleet I'll go Screed unless someone new catches my attention.
Motti has kept me alive when I shouldn't have been. Still unsure on my rebel commanders.

so, fun fact about Motti: his usefulness scales with the necessity of his ability.
The small, nimble Gladiator SDs and upcoming raiders only get 1 point
The least maneuverable (and therefore quite prone to getting shot) ship in the game gets 2, and one of the largest (and therefore also prone to getting shot) gets 3.

I'd love to use Screed, but I'm not running any crit effects on my pair of VSD IIs, and I feel like he's not as critical with just the Demolisher using black dice. Motti has saved my butt so many times. He gets focused on, so Demolisher gets away with a little more, and he can take more punishment.
Mon Mothma is my goto gal. I use her in most lists, the only exceptions being if I don't have many Evades (e.g. AF2 and a Neb only), or I really need 10 more points and use Dodonna instead.
