Bounty Board and Smuggling Jobs

By bubblepopmei, in Game Masters

We are about to begin season 2. The players will be on Nar Shaddaa - finally have their precious ship , and plan on returning to good ol' smuggling jobs and other business.

I like to post world-building scenes that tease a few sessions ahead and deal with aftermath of what was behind. These include vignettes to outright show some of what the NPCs have going on behind the scenes and news bulletins that deal with whatever catastroph e the players caused or tee up something for the future .

I'd like to also begin adding job boards that include cargo missions, passenger or escort charters, and a bounty board. I think this will give my players the opportunity to sort of master their own destinies and decide pre-sessions what sort of job they might do. Naturally I'd need advance notice so I can prepare such a session - but even if they ignore it completely, it will continue to add to the overall universe we are building together. Also one of the smugglers has a bounty obligation. Seeing her name on the bounty board will cause her to make a trilling sound and ruffle her feathers.

To that end - I'm having trouble finding an image that I can use as a tablet backdrop and write special text over it. I want it to look authentic.

Does anyone have imagery to that effect? I can handle the text but I don't have the tablet backdrop and several Google searches have failed me thus far.

We play face to face. Because of my commitments as a Mother, we only play once a month. I'm working to get twice a month going or back to back on a weekend via slumber party but it is no easy task.

In Between sessions, we post content on the Obsidian Portal site. I tend to post world-building things and add wiki pages for places , objects , organizations , and people they interact with, along with some vignettes and news bulletins.

The players engage in slice of life role play via email and then post their rp scenes as cut scenes. These happen chronologically in between the last session and the next, so I tell them the location and the amount of time they have to do so. They also post journal entrie s which are POV interpretations of the previous session and cut scenes without other players .

In this particular instance, I will be using photoshop to create these job boards and post them on the site in between sessions.

I like to base these sorts of things on real-world examples. Starting with the main page at << https://www.fbi.gov/wanted/wanted_by_the_fbi/@@search-fbipersons?CustomSearchableText=&getWantedCategory=fugitive&getRewardRange=all&getPossibleCountries=USA&zipcode=&mileage=&getPossibleStates=&form.button.search=>.

There are also public digital advertising boards run by ClearChannel for the FBI, see < https://www.fbi.gov/newyork/press-releases/images/nyfo011510_1.jpg/view>. I could imagine 3-D holographic boards posted near transport hubs, shopping centers, and various other places that large numbers of people tend to congregate at.

And you can get a gallery of older posters at < http://fbimostwanted.us/zc/>. I posted the scans of the Star Wars wanted posters for Han Solo and Chewbacca in another thread, as they came in the deluxe edition of “The Bounty Hunters Code”.

For doing the pictures of the various targets, you could use images from round tokens, but I don’t know how well that would work. It seems to me that you actually want square-ish images, and I would think they would be better taken from various “paper miniatures” that I’ve seen in the past.
