I am testing the layout of the Shrimp Frigate, using a theory of 1 yaw at all speeds while speed 4 (first block is 0 yaw obviously) so far I am getting great results 1v1 against a VSD
How did I not see this!
Against a VSD, the Shrimp Frigate is amazing. Time to test it vs a GSD
GSD's are a tougher target but they have to get into black range. It is a toss up really.
Something I noticed for the Imperial Raider Corvette is one type gives a blue and a black die while the other gives two black dice(anti-squadron). I wonder if there will be a commander or officer that allows all anti-squadron dice to fire up to medium range?
Edited by Exhausted TokenPossibly but it would only work with the ISD and the Raider. It would seem like a waste for your Commander slot

Maybe a Weapons Team, or unique officer?
Edit: Or Ordinance.
Edited by BiggsIRLI think it is more likely that we will get a 10pt upgrade that let's crits hit squadrons
Just a thematic point, but the shape and speed of the MC30 results in a very small profile if it is heading directly at its target, this could be a point which could speak for it having 4 defense tokens?
It could also have only one click of Yaw in speed band 4. Only.
Awesome at straight line speed. Can't turn a ****.
If you want more Yaw, go Slower... Kinda deal.
Great speculation, everybody. Only thing I can say is that it will certainly add a new wrinkle into what I can do with my Rebs.
From what I see right now, they kind of look like World War I battlecruisers, "eggshells armed with hammers." You get into the range these guys really need to work, and they're definitely going to be taking some licks. Speed 4 would make them a tempting addition, for sure.
Can't really see them outside of a Mothma fleet, if the defense token speculation is correct.

If the MC-30 is anything like its representation is Empire at War it will be a tough little ship. It will make destroying them all the more satisfying.
I heard from one of the devs (in person, I have no proof, so you'll have to take my weird for it, or not) that they are extremely fragile, in his experience.
I think they are the Armada epitome of the glass cannon.

You know Lyraeus, I really wish you were closer to me, we could have some epic battles.
You could always move to Portland. We have better game stores.

But more monsters according to Grimm, how many decapitations a year are you up to?
Hmmmmmm not sure. Besides not all of them are up to no good, just some. Besides it thins out the college kids.
On a side note (it my topic I will derail it further if I choose), I work security and have actually done security for the show. Fun times

Tell you what bro, I'll take your weird if you take mine on. I'll warn you though, I've got all kinds of weird going on.
Edited by MadaghmireInteresting that MC-30's actually get speed 4. However, I noticed they are unlikely to get support teams (Engine Techs). I'd rather have my Gladiator with Engine Techs and Wulff (or Tarkin) any day of the week. Said glad is speed 4, while having more control over the end of their maneuver (they can hook back hard with a 2 turn that a CR-90 couldn't make even with the same clicks on a 4-range move). Not only that, this ship has the ability to throttle up and down MUCH better than either rebel ship...much faster to slow down especially since ETechs is optional, so they can essentially bleed 2 speed off in a turn if they want.
Interesting how well FFG is making ships niche, especially with some people pointing out that both factions (after wave 2 especially) will play similar...though I think those people are simply mistaken.
Of course, the MC-30 is likely to have some really interesting combos that makes it the rebellion's mirror to the Gladiator, yet makes it function in an utterly unique role that no imp ship can truly match.
I highly doubt both factions will play similarly. Each has its strengths and weaknesses and that sets everything apart. The MC30 is going to be strong but not all powerful. I think we will see an influx of XI7 Turbolasers. Being used to kill them, and people will counter with Advanced Projectors.
While you are right with the engine techs are optional, I am not sure how the CR90 can't make the same speed 4 maneuver that the glad could possibly do. The Gladiator at speed 3 is 0, 1, 1, and it's speed 1 is 2.
A CR90 at speed 4 is 0, 1, 1, 2. So they are the same except that the CR90 can also have engine techs and go up to speed 5.
Now the MC30 does not have the slot from what I can tell for engine techs but it does get the slot for a weapons team which will be interesting I think.
I think the frigate will be speed 3 based on the dial setting in the picture.
While possible I don't think so because of this section of the card shown.I think the frigate will be speed 3 based on the dial setting in the picture.
I have yet to see any card except the CR90 with a white box in that area that is circled.
Woah, excellent spot!

Thank you. I like to think that my time as a US Navy IS Imagery Analyst helped me ^_~

Yeah, but if you're really a former intel team member in the Navy, tell us about the times you made enemy vessels lose one of their defense tokens.
