New player so take it easy with the abuse if you think it's terrible ;) lol

Thanks for your help!

Interesting. I think if i was going to play Decimator - Firespray, i would turn the decimator into a battering ram and let the Firespray attack from range.

Kath /w Mangler Cannon, Lone Wolf

Oicunn /w Intel Agent, Rebel Captive, Isard, Engine Upgrade, Dauntless

Don't know how competitive (or not) it is, but it sounds like fun...

I've only just bought the firespray and decimator expansion so I don't have a clue what goes with what and how to use them effectively lol

Some of the cards you mentioned for Kath I don't have :(

Also if I used a ramming decimator would I not be able to shoot or take any actions as I've just bumped?

Mangler - M3-A or IG-2000

Lone Wolf - YT-2400

Int Agent - Shuttle or HWK

Rebel Captive - Shuttle

Isard - Decimator

Dauntless - Decimator

Engine Upgrade - YT-1300

That is correct in that if bases are touching, you cannot shoot at the ships base you are in contact with. However a 'ramming' decimator doesn't really care.

I maneuver into you. We have overlapped so you take damage. I can then choose to get a free action and take a stress. The Intelligence agent is so you can see where the enemy will go so you can block them, causing them to lose action and your Firespray to pick them off from distance. Imp Kath likes crits to give stress, and the Mangler cannon makes that easier. Rebel captive makes shooting at the decimator give stress as well.

Don't get me wrong, i am sure there are much better 'ramming' Decimator setups but this will do the job in a pinch. :)

At the moment I can't afford any more models! In the future I'll be getting more for sure!

Thanks for the advice though! Struggling to make effective builds with what I have atm as I'm inexperienced lol

Only thing I find with the decimator is that it doesn't survive for very long, everyone always gang bangs it straight off -_-

The trick there is to field another ship(s) that punishes them for ganging up on the decimator. "You wanna shoot at my Imperial Love Boat, ok but (insert ship here) is going to make you pay for that now). :)

Yes decimators are easy to kill without some form of defense. Ysanne Isard and Rebel captive help, but the most important upgrade is engine. Being able to boost really gives the decimator some staying power because you can possibly avoid enemy firing arcs if you position right, or even if you can't avoid all of them, you can set up an ideal range (3 when there's lots of shots coming at you, or 1 when you know you can kill the lone enemy ship that might shoot at you but at a lower PS).

Tell us what you do have so far. Also, more important than squad building is strategy and obstacle placement to compliment your strategy.

If you just want to have fun, go ahead and run your build. I tend to prefer Kenkirk on the decimator though with determination, rebel captive and ysanne at the minimum.

I love engine upgrade on those turrets. If you want your decimator to last, I recommend you build your list around Kenkirk with ysanne and engine upgrade. You can then, for example, add a mini swarm, which might be a bit difficult to fly but would be very effective, and slap gunner in the decimator in case they decide to target the swarm.

At the moment I have:

2 core sets

Imperial aces

1 tie advanced

1 Tie phantom

1 slave 1

1 decimator

I do plan on buying a Lambda shuttle soon.

Yeah I didn't realise how big the decimator was! bumping into everything! Lol

I just need lots of practice judging moves and things like that

I'm open to any kind of build really as I like variety, kind of boring when week in week out your playing against the same build.

Maybe Boba + Echo + Dark Curse?

Whisper + Chiraneau?

Kenkirk + Curse + Mithel + Academy

Kath + Jax + Phennir

Thanks for all your suggestions though, this is great advice!
