More Sorastro-Inspired Minis

Exceptional work, all around!

There's (at least) one other option, and while the buy-in may be a little steep, it will have consistent utility and value: waterslide transfers, also known as decals. Here in the US, Testors sells decal paper that you can run through an ordinary printer - make sure you get the correct type for your printer. If you have skills in creating your own designs you can do that, or just use "captured" images, size them appropriately, print, spray with fixative, and apply.

I've seen some really amazing decal work done on X-Wing minis, which are considerable smaller and smaller scale; I don't see any reason why you couldn't do the same thing here. If you don't want to waste a whole sheet just for a single mythosaur head for Boba, you can add numbers to your stormtroopers, or any number of printed details to different minis. You could even just add simple numbers to the bases to help keep track of who's who.

I'd love to see what water-transfer decals I could get my hands on. I've had great results with my Black Templar 40k army. Granted, part of me gets on a soap box in my head and tells me I have to do it by hand, but the other part just wants to see a great looking Scum badge on that shoulderpad. :D

Thanks!

My completed Gideon Argus .

I enjoyed free-handing the Rebel symbol on the right-hand shoulder. I was pretty cautious when it came down to getting the size of the patch background roughed in. I was worried I'd allotted too much space at first, but after having painted the Rebel symbol in afterwards, I was grateful for the extra space. You can really see it well from tabletop distance. That makes me happy. :D

One note about painting the eyes. I'm not the biggest fan of eyeballs on minis. Typically, they aren't well-defined and making them appear so tends to leave eyes with proportions that resemble anime characters or The Greys (aliens 'n whatnot). However, since the Gideon fig had some decently picked out nobs, the small amount of off-white I dabbed onto them did well enough for my preference. Provides just enough of a glint that you know they're there. ;)

I put a tiny spot of green stuff on the top of Gideon's binoculars, and then painted them silver so he looks like he is going to battle while drinking out of a hip-flask.

I seriously looked for a spare beer mug I have in my dwarves sprues from WH Fantasy. I couldn't find it, sadly. It's packed away somewhere and I'm in the process of moving. I really, really wanted to swap out his binocs for a massive beer mug. My wife asked me if that's what he was carrying, anyway, so I felt compelled to make an effort. If ever I get a second core Assault box, Gideon will be sloshed as hell while battling the Empire.

It's been a while since I've made any progress on these minis, but now that I'm done moving and settled in, I finished up Han Solo.

The facial sculpt they did on this is great. They even captured the "Han Smirk".

I really enjoyed painting this nerf herder. :D
