New skirmish Map list

Imperial Assault FAQ and tournament rules are coming, but to give players time to prepare for Gen Con (and other events), we are announcing the legal skirmish maps today. Please spread the word!

Legal skirmish maps starting July 29th will be: Moisture Farm, Kuat Space Yards, and Ord Mantell Junkyard

I don't see a "Kuat Space Yards" map. I'm assuming it the "Kuat Space Station" unless they are releasing a new map.

EDIT: FFG confirmed that the map indeed was "Kuat Space Station".

Hey guys I just started building the new maps and noticed that both new maps are missing tiles on the chart: Royal Guard 36A and IG88 36B. I know this has been stated before and should be addressed in the FAQ just want to give you guys a heads up now.

I haven't had a chance to play either of the two new maps added to the rotation. How do the missions play out? Specifically how much of a factor is speed? Do you think these missions will reduce some of the concerns regarding the imperial officer?

Speed is always important but in these maps you shouldn't get the same negative play experience as smuggled goods.

One of the Ord mantell missions, most dangerous game, is a straight up fight.

The second OM mission is another scrap, on a map that gets smaller and smaller each round.

The kuat missions are interesting, incoming transmission rewards players who take their time before collecting objective tokens. Speed might get you in a position to claim them early but it's not too big of an advantage because you want to hold on a few turns once you've got there.

Data heist requires you to fight for and hold 2-3 key locations, at the same time.

Speed may help at the start but quickly loses its advantage.

It's a tricky set of maps to build a squad for.

But yes, I agree with your analysis throughout that post. I think that FFG has been listening to the discussions about the Officers and Guards, and have chosen some maps that give less advantages to those pieces. IMHO, this is one of the reasons why FFG is the best game company around: they take their players seriously. Massive +1 to FFG! :)

Perhaps it is my newness as I have only played a few skirmish games, but why don't they just use all maps? I mean they released them all.

My guess is that it helps them balance the game. If surten maps / missions benefit one list type more than others they can easily rotate it out of competitive play. Obviously for casual play all maps are fair game.

Sweet! Very pleased with how they are doing maps. For those that have a "tournament" set, here's the tiles you'll need to bring for all the maps:

2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 14, 15x2, 16, 17x2, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32x2, 33, 35, 36x3, 39x2

If you count the other way, leave these home from your "full set":

1, 12, 13, 14, 17x2, 18x3, 34x2, 35x3, 36, 37, 38x3, 39

I'm really looking forward to these new maps. Should really shake things up.

When do we think they will release the official announcement? If i'm not mistaken they've only given us a heads up tweet to this point? Do you think there is any chance they will announce mats of some kind being available at the same time so we don't have to build the maps before each match?

no you will have to build
