I am back (and bad) with my same old question... i still don´t really get it...

Objective tokens in story games with no specific story line... I was hoping people could let me know how they are playing this part of the game...

Do you for instance:

- Create you own small story elements? If so what sort of things do you use?

- Do you just play without explanation for these tokens????

- Do you use scenarios that have this element written in???

At the moment i have been playing all the FFG scenarios but with mostly crate tokens, only using objective tokens when there is an actual objective in the story associated with that space. (such as in wave of mutilation i used objective tokens in the centre and crate tokens everywhere else).

I was thinking it could be worthwhile to compile a document containing flexible multi-scenario-use story elements for the objective tokens.

Also, at least in the basic game, there is not the full plethora of possible combinations of objective tokens... which i have found a little limiting when constructing my own story elements. Has anyone created some more tokens?

Thanks in advance for your answers, anyone who comes to Trondheim, Norway will receive a free beer. babeo.gif

I haven't bothered with Story Mode after our first few games. Objectives are a pain, as far as I'm concerned.

Don't get me wrong, my group likes scenarios and objectives and all, but Domination Mode is our fave, due to the fact that you simply secure objectives to win. It works for us that when you reach an objective, with no fiddly skill requirements, you plant a flag and cover it.

That being said, we have had incredible fun with the french scenarios (both official and fan made).

I think ToY tried to make the objective tokens open ended so you could write your own scenarios, but I don't now if they were successful. At least they tried to accommodate a few styles of play. You should use whatever works for you and the players.

Also, the upcoming Daedulus (this year, ha ha, that's a funny one FFG) does have additional objective tokens.
