Activation sliders a pain in the a...

By chriscook, in Star Wars: Armada

I think they work just fine. If someone is getting bent out of shape over a couple mimimeters, then they need to go home and reevaluate their lives.

Agreed. I think in part, this theme reappears because many of us have seen firsthand some of this in other games, I'm not confident it's prevalent in the Armada sphere at all.

I've got Cog'O'Two squadron movement templates that have nice rounded edges designed for squadron movements...I just mark it's position, pick it up, toggle, and place it back :)

I can find the tokens on their site and ebay but not these markers you speak of. Can you post a link please?

A lot of people call this game "fiddly"because of the sliders and HP counters. Honestly, I feel that if these counters and sliders didn't exist, gamers would complain about the lack of information tracked.

Its not just the sliders. I think they are the least of the problem. I can understand why people get concerned though. I think the bigger issue is the movement took for the ships which already has some give in the clicks and they only seem to weaken with use. When you are dealing with ship arcs and line of site, those few degrees can be the difference between getting the shot or not.

So a couple of mm gets you shot up and you flip the table, right? Sell off all your Armada stuff over a loss that may ot may not have been decided by what FFG came up with for a movement tool or squadron tracking?

Peraonally, I'd just finiah out the current game and then play another game of Armada.

I find it helpful to establish whether a squadron is or isn't engaged first, then, even if during the pick up and put back a ship is miraculously now in range(it happens), you've got the previous precedent to fall back on and say, no, it's not engaged. I like the 1" washer idea though, I'm stealing that.

Never had an issue in any of the games I've played. Squadron combat isn't as finicky as x wing. The squadrons can be picked up and replaced without an impact to the overall game if they are not in the exact spot so long as you ensure that any squadron in range of you is still in range when you replace it.

Now in x-wing it's a whole different story... lols.
