Intensify Forward Firepower, Episode VII: The Dandroid's Fury comes to you courtesy of Dan, Eric, Jud, Steve, and Engineer Brad this time with an ambitious topic. Things begin with a review from the crew of their latest Armada exploits. Listeners get two brief tournament reports before the hosts jump into the gigantic subject of integrating objectives into the fleet design process. Eventually, the show is wrapped up with a short rules discussion before the flesh star destroyer begins to fall apart and the escape pods are reluctantly launched.

The embedded audio is of Episode VI. (I only realised this after thinking a couple of times "I'm sure you already pulled that joke last episode, guys.")

CURSE MY COPY AND PASTE SKILLS! Fixed. Thank you!

I'll go apologize to lord vader personally.

Can you guys not talk about the prequal movies in a negative fashion. Keep it on Armada and Star Wars love.

Request received. Request denied. Carry on :)

I really like the discussion on objectives.

Thanks! Man, the objectives are so good.

Biggest download yet at about 90.5 MB

You are correct. This one seems to have been exported at a higher bitrate- probably so everyone can revel in the outtro music in glorious, only-semi-compressed stereo!

Yea the smallest was IFF 4 at almost 32 Mb. Still I came wait to listen to these. I need a mind shifting thought on Objectives

Love this podcast! You guys have a great dynamic and I'm digging the occasional disagreements you generate during the show. Perfect balance of light stuff and heavy strategy discussion. And - I can't believe I'm saying this - I enjoy the occasional awful singing. Fun to listen to - hope they are as much fun to record. You're delivering on every unmade promise to-date. Speak up, Easy!

I don't know if anyone's mind will be shifted, Lyr, but there's plenty to disagree with or agree with!

Thanks puncturedbag - delightful name by the way.

Real Life Biggs I really like your mustache and haircut.

Subjectively, I don't know if you were objective on the subject of objectives.

I'll stop now.

Joking aside though, I do agree - these are way, way more impactful on the game than most people realize, and not enough discussion of them has happened.

I actually do look an awful lot like Biggs, complete with glorious stach.

Just thought I would chime in and agree with a small point. 400pt+ games really illustrate how easy the game is to play and manage at that level. We did a 600 pt battle a few days ago in about 2.5 hours, with frequent breaks. I think the game has a lot more to offer then what we have currently seen.

I don't know how much 400 pts will change objectives.

I think Dangerous Territory will be great with large ships (hey if they are going to run over the obstacles anyway, might as well make them immune right?), Minefields will also be a huge counter to large ships I think, they may end hitting 2 at a time.

Fire Lanes with MC80's! So good.

Now the ones I worry about are things like superior positions and other low costing objectives. While you will be getting these tokens, will it actually balance out?

Smart.

I wonder if it will be offset by the fact that potentially more ships will be able to be pinged? And more squadrons could be pinging? So there's a higher potential for tokens?

Only one way to find out, and while I was the one reluctant to dive into it, I think at this point everyone has me convinced. Even Steve is diving into 400. Tonight I think - so stay tuned!

Well it is possible but I have a feeling that people are going to go the route of more hull points and activations means stronger forces.

After a month or so people will have large ships down and that will change how people deploy, what they field, etc.

Thank you so much for reading the cards out when you talk about them. It meant I could keep up with the conversation in the car.

Great episode, keep up the good work. Loved the objective discussion and I can say it has changed how I look at them. I used to be a pick three that don't look too bad, rather than pick to suit the list. That will change for competitive games and I am going to attempt to play all of the objectives from both sides in friendly play to get a better understanding of them and how to benefit from them.

If you are looking for suggestions for topics for the next few shows how about picking a set of upgrade cards, officers, weapons team etc and talk through the card and then its best application in terms of ships and/or combos with other upgrades.

If you are not looking for suggestions then just ignore the last paragraph :P

Greetings gents. I've never listened to a podcast before now. Keep up the good work.

Just wish I lived closer to Richmond. The Dragon's Den sounds like a high caliber store, just like the Game Parlor in Chantilly. That was my goto store until I moved to Western Virginia.

Thanks guys! @Ungentlemanly- yeah I would love to sit down and talk through upgrades! My worry is that Wave II drops at any time and they all shift usefulness! But definitely man, thanks for the words of encouragement!

No problem! Thanks for the good suggestions!

Keep listening because we are (or at least I am) guaranteed to do a complete 180 on any number of points made in ep 7!

You always do a 180 almost every episode

Don't worry about wave 2 live in the now.

Review it now then 180 it later.

So far I think you guys are up to 1080 on squadrons so a few more 180's on other cards are just going to add to the entertainment.
