Greetings from a rather relatively new Arkham Horror player (1 month of insanity and counting.) Recently, a strange situation came up and I was wondering how to properly resolve it in case it comes again. When the Ancient one is Yibb-Tstll, investigators can't have more than 5 clue tokens. I interpret this as if they get more than that limit in an encounter, they lose the extras. But what about clues placed on the board? For instance, if an investigator with 3 clue tokens moves to a location with 3 clue tokens, does he pick all of them up and discard one, or does he only pick up 2 and leaves one behind? I played it as the latter, although it didn't make much difference as I lost that round anyway. Still, if this situation comes up again, I'd like to know for certain what steps to take.
A Rather Situational Question
I'm pretty sure that investigators can choose not to pick up clue tokens. They can't drop any they've picked up, but they can choose not to pick some up so other investigators can take them.
You can choose to pick up all or no clues at any location

What, I can't pick up some
?
So I misworded LOL
Well, I double checked the rule book, and it does say you can pick up any or all clues when you end your movement in a location. Thank you all for the help.
