K-Wing Builds

What kind of builds do you think you will fly with a K-Wing in it?

If you focus on Fat Han first, you're giving the Warden all the time he needs to deliver his ordnance while SLAMming past your squad. If you chase the Warden, he's dropping the bombs behind him and jumping to the other end of the map and you have to chew through 9 hit points. Fat Han is a much better closer, so I think you could fly the K-Wing anticipating your opponent's moves to be chasing Han and so placing the bombs to make the best Han chasing routes very costly.

I can't seem to come up with a realistic squad with more than 2 K-Wings (a 33 point Warden can be built that looks fun, but I don't think it's terribly practical).

Well for one thing if using prox mines you need advanced slam on your K-wing.

Take Mira, C3p0, TLT, EI, Sismics X2. This ship will live forever if flown correctly, and be like an annoying fly, buzzing around picking at you. It's got a built in R2D2, which activates every turn even if you bump and not just on green moves. We will be seeing this ship alot. IMO

Eagletsi111, you're right that Prox Mines do not combine well with Slam without Advanced Slam.

Optionally, swap Luke out and put in Gunner so that you have 2 points with which to squeeze in Advanced Slam... But I'm not sure this Warden build needs it. It would help the TLT a bit, but a focus action doesn't help a single green die all that much...

On your Mira build: Experimental Interface, or did you mean EM? Or does EI combine with Slam in a way I have yet to fathom? Or I could see EI if you went Prox or Conner instead of Seismics.

I put together a Miranda/Corran build yesterday! I have a thread over in the squad section but I'm all about K-Wing builds at the moment haha

I do hope we'll see more than yet another deluge of 2 ship builds

I hope we get beyond 2 ship builds as well, but I figured a 2-ship with K-Wing and Fat Han would at least get a builds conversation kick started.

Seems pretty clear that FFG wants to get away from 2 ship builds as well...

And did I miss a cluster mine reveal?

It just occurred to me that the K-Wing has a PWT. I'm slow sometimes. So if you threw on a limited range turret, say an autoblaster, you get the special autoblaster effects at Range 1 but still have 360 degree attacks out to Range 3.

3 dice abt is all you need, really

though I'm not sold it'll be much good on a ship with low maneuverability unless it's forsaking its attacks. Plus, 2-dice PWTs are garbage due to the cost of the ship (moreso with 0 action efficiency), except at range 1 where they're sorta half decent. Seems to me you'd want the TLT compensating for their offense rather than ABT.

of course, their design makes me think they don't want any 2ndary turrets or even weapons except Miranda. At least for the first few games, I'm going all bombs/mines, all the times.

You could adjust your SLAM maneuver to put you near to but out of arc of Whisper or most any other ace, double focus with Adv. SLAM and RecSpec, do a focused 3-die attack to strip tokens/C-3PO, then trade away your shield for a four die attack with focus on a naked target.

But it'll only do one damage. I think I understand why now.
