Order 66

By PopsDexter, in X-Wing Squad Lists

With all of the reveals that have been coming out lately I still find myself pining for The Imperial Raider and a girl named Juno. After playing around with some of the named pilots and thinking about how I am gonna fly Juno I remembered that creepy old guy leering at me from under his hood, Emperor Palpatine. And man did the blood start pumpin. Up until that point I hadn't been too excited for the Emperor reveal. Tonight it clicked, thematically at least.

Along with my recent dalliance with Scum and all the Wave VII news that has been coming out. I never took the time to explore the list options that will be available since the Emperor reveal.

The first list that I came up with is a simple list that may have already been discussed some other time in the forum. I usually have a hard time thinking of names for lists, but this one was so easy I thought I would share it. Order 66.

First I take three TIE Advanced, Tempest Squad, and jackin' them up with Advanced Targeting Computer comes to 66 points. Well now the fluff rises to the top. I have a name for a list I haven't even finished yet. Now I just need to cue the Emperor. I do this by throwing him on a shuttle, but which shuttle. In the end I settled on Colonel Jendon who, when you count the Emperor, fills in the other 34 points. Colonel Jendon felt like the perfect match to the 66 point TIE Advanced squad of Tempests, with his ability to pass his blue target lock token to another friendly ship at range 1. Now one of my Tempests can evade or barrel roll out arc and still get the target lock to trigger ATC.

Only play testing will tell if I have chosen the right shuttle. In the end a generic Shuttle with EU could be the better choice. I really liked how this list came together and thought I would share it and see what other people think.

Interesting idea. I think Jendon is the right choice for tempests w/ ATC. My only concern is that 34 pts is a lot for a ship that is mostly support (palp and passing TL's). Sure it has 3 attack (which it may get to use once or twice), but turning that sucker around will be a b!tch. The tempests should deal decent damage once they get the TL's up, but against high PS (especially arc-dodgers) you might have an uphill battle unless you can lay down some key blocks. I like out-of-the-box thinking, so I hope it works for you!

I was definitely thinking that the Tempests would be doing their best to block and keep the action ahead of the shuttle.

I have had the 66 point theme in my head all morning and came up with the following.

Rear Admiral with Engine, Palpatine, Isard, and Expose = 66 points

Marek Steele with Engine, ATC, and lone wolf = 34 points.

I think it will work well with Marek's ability to chose from three crits. With ATC dishing out one and Palpatine dishing out another its definitely gonna frustrate the opponent.
