4 ICT Warthogs or 4 TLT Warthogs?

By Ailowynn, in X-Wing

Which do you prefer? Syndicate Thug + ICT + BTL-A4 + R4 Agromech, or Syndicate Thug + TLT + BTL-A4 + Unhinged Astromech?

The ionhogs will have a better time at Range 1, but the laserhogs will have a better time at Range 3 (and probably at Range 2). Ionhogs will have more trouble going fast and clearing stress, but the laserhogs only get one action a round on three attacks. The laserhogs have a much higher volume of attacks for chewing through fat ships and stripping tokens off of Soontir, but they lack control of the ion token. Thoughts?

insert "Why not both?" here

though honestly, if you're rolling TLT the title just seems greedy. The 2 dice at that point don't seem worth the sacrifice of a range 2-3 turret greatly mitigating the impact of the subpar dial, whereas with ICT they almost double the damage output of the Y (not to mention ion keeps things in arc).

I would take 2 of each. Both versions are great and have a place in a squad. The salvaged astromechs can add a bit of diversity to the squad on top of the alternate turrets.

Thanks for making a ScumHog thread! All I ever see are "Oohh Garven" and "Dat Dutch".

I'm with FGD on this one. Is there a way to fit 2 of each in that list? Maybe even run the TLTHogs w/o the title so they can scrub off tokens from any angle for the Ions to get hits?

25 points for R4 ICT titles, 25 points for Unhinged TLT no titles

So it is written, and so it shall be done.

I might try 4 no-title with TLT. 8 3-die turret attacks per round seems like enough firepower. Adding 4 more attacks doesn't seem to be worth giving up the turret to me.

On an A4 Y-wing TLT over ICT probably isn't worth sacrificing the awesome power of R4 Agromech. The reduced action economy probably cancels out TLT's extra damage. With TLT I'd actually lean towards the turreted Y-wing.

For rebels I think I would run a TLT warthog, a TLT non-title and a couple ion warthogs. R3-A2 on one of the hogs but I'm not sure which. You have to be careful about the eggs per basket balance.

TLT warthog, obviously. It hangs back and super-stresses everything (because with three attacks you didn't have any action economy for shooting with anyway), setting ships up for the Warthog kills.

The TLT turret acts as insurance, helping strip tokens from wherever it can.
