Less. Last year was really rough. They had two normal waves, two aces, and two epics. This year so far they've had one wave, with a second wave and an epic upcoming. That's not too bad, but I still haven't gotten a couple ships yet from the past couple waves.
[POLL] More waves or less?
About happy, but less is ok. I want higher quality. This crap meta is crap. Like, is this what you wanted FFG? 50% of the field is fat turret. I guess its diverse since they're all different right? (no).
I'm interested in more pilots and tweaks for the existing Rebel and Imperial ships. So I guess less waves as aces type releases don't seem to count.
Stated elsewhere; more E-wing and Y-wing pilots for the Rebels, more Tie Bomber and Tie Defender pilots for Imperials.
Scum could probably do with more ships though, who's up for another Scum only wave ![]()
2 waves a year, plus one Aces pack, plus an Epic ship would suit me well. ![]()
Less. Can't afford it all as is.
I am quite happy with where we are but I won't lie GIVE ME MOOOOR SPACE SHIPS
It would be nice to see more aces packs, there are so many ships that hardly see any table time.
Sure most, if not all, do get represented at tourneys, but I would love to head to a tourney and not see every second list being a fattie
I too feel like the punisher and the K-wing are scraping the bottom of the barrel. I would like to see the gunboat, and maybe one or 2 others, but I also feel like the tie bomber got abandoned, and the punisher screams power creep to me. I think some aces for existing ships would be preferable to some virtually unknown EU something.
Ywing pilots with an EPT for rebels
Tie bomber card with FCS like ability (bomber only) oh, and better pilots would not hurt either.
Ordnance that fixes the problems of action economy and damage (been discussed ad nauseum, just has not been done, the new torps are heading the right direction)
Maybe a title that gives the xwing a little nudge or reduces their cost a little.
We have a lot of ships. more is not always better. I want a quality game with a lot of list diversity. I want the game we had at wave 3.
I'd like to see 3-4 non-epic releases next year atleast one wave and atleast 2 Aces set (please tweak the e-wing/defender & something for scum)
More importantly I'd like to see a hard push to get each faction having 2 epic ships each and have them released close to one another and within the next 18 months
epic has potential but they are dragging
Now ffg expects me to replace my 4 Bombers with Punishers?
The TIE Punisher is not a replacement for the TIE bomber. It's a different ship with a different stat line (adds overall durability and resists critical hits), action bar (adds boost), and upgrade bar (adds a system slot and an extra bomb, but doesn't get EPTs).
It's a different ship.
...the punisher screams power creep to me.
In what language? Roughly comparing Jonus to Redline, it looks like the advantages identified above are going to cost 4-5 points (27 for Redline minus 22 for Jonus, with some fudging for PS differences). In order to represent power creep, those changes would have to be worth more than 4-5 points. You're apparently very sure that's true, so can you explain?
I would like to see the gunboat, and maybe one or 2 others,
You mean a different scraping of the bottom of the barrel?
The Punisher isn't power creep IMO. It might be slightly more hardy than the Bomber, but the extra green die means it isn't as much as it looks. The extra slots are nice, but you pay points for the privelage, and without Advanced sensors for post-boost bomb dropping shenanigans, boost is arguably worse than barrel roll.
yes i want a new ship every TWO weeks!!
This is an odd little thread.
Less. Can't afford it all as is.
Things like this are why I think this is a terrible place to even have a poll like this.
The fact that so many people here feel like they have to buy all of it is probably misrepresentative of the general fanbase. I don't know anyone in RL that has this mindset. I've never met anyone who was of the mindset that a tabletop miniatures game was something where you had to collect a complete set.
I too feel like the punisher and the K-wing are scraping the bottom of the barrel.
The Punisher is only scraping the bottom of the barrel in the sense that FFG took a half-filled barrel, flipped it over, and opened the bottom early.
There were a lot of way better TIEs they could have made before picking something like the Punisher, which should have been something they did after they actually WERE out of other good options.
Edited by DarthEnderXI'd have to say less at this point (one new wave and one Aces pack a year). The ships they are producing now are far less interesting to me. I'd love to see more variations on existing ships via the Aces packs people have mentioned.
We need "Uglies", The Chiss Clawcraft, Hapan Nova class Battle Cruisers with Miy'til fighters, and Vong Coral Skippers.
I'm happy with the current release schedule.
Ditto.

I feel like the punisher will make tie bombers obsolete. yes, they cost more, but you get disproportionally more for that increased cost. I think the tie bomber will see even less play than it did previously, and it's a movie canon ship, not something most people never heard of. Power creep can be measured different ways, but I think one sign of it is when a new ship relegates an old one to the scrap pile. I think that is what the punisher will do to the tie B.
Jonus is good, but you have to build a squad around him, use secondary weapons, and maintain formation. he also does not benefit from his own ability. Rhymer could be good, but costs too much and ordnance isn't that great, so he does not get played either.
Redline would have been a good pilot for, gee, I don't know, a tie bomber maybe?
I think they should fix what they have instead of rolling out something "better."
One cannot stress how important those 5 pts are. You don't gain that much in durability. Sure, there is some nice upgrade options, but as with all upgrades, that is just more and more points. The Bomber isn't going anywhere.
2 waves. 1 aces. And would like to see epic stepped up to 2 a year. If you can't afford everything that is coming out... well I guess it is a good thing you are playing X wing and not Magic. You don't have to buy every new ship when they come out (I'm gonna but not the point) You can have fun with whatever you bring and if your complaint is that you have to spend money to stay competitive then welcome to the real world. Sports teams don't WANT to pay millions to stay competitive nor do other nerds playing other games want to have to buy the latest thing to stay on top of the meta. Just enjoy casual or don't complain about not keeping with the meta.

The PS 2 Punisher is 21 points. A scimitar Squadron Pilot is 16. 5 points is a lot. 3 Shields at the cost of 1 agility is only a slight increase in durability (See B-wing vs. X-wing- The B-wing wins, but only barely- Biggs was actually more durable than the ships he escorted in Biggs Walks the Dogs because he was generally at a longer range band than the Blue Squadron Pilots he escorted). Boost vs. Barrel Roll is roughly equal- Boost does have synergy with bombs if you equip advanced sensors, but Barrel Roll is much better for jousting, which is what you'll be doing once you finish using that ordnance. So, unless the dial is utterly amazing, most of those points are going toward the systems slot and an extra bomb slot. That's a lot of points to pay for two slots- Starvipers pay 1 point for a systems slot and an illicit upgrade slot, and some people complain that the Virago title should have been free!
Edited by SquarkI feel like the punisher will make tie bombers obsolete.
Curious because I'm waiting to have my punisher and play Jonus again.
I think about 2 waves + 1 epic/aces is ok. Definitely don't need more, as is it's going to take a while for me to get caught up. I just started playing (buying) 6 months ago, and with 3 kids it's hard to find a ton of time (money) to play all the new stuff. I think there is a good chance future waves will drop to 3 ships, 1 per faction, since after wave 7 all factions will have the same number.
And that's without buying any other miniature games, if I played multiple games a could definitely understand wanting less, but I don't think that a good idea for FFG, they don't want their X-Wing exclusive players to get bored.
Edited by imprezagoateeCurrent pace seems spot on. If you over-saturate, you'll drive away players who can't keep up with the pricing. But if you don't bring in new, regular material, players will grow bored and move on elsewhere.
With that said.... I WANT MY RAIDER ALREADY!
AND BOSSK!
AND EXTRA MUNITIONS FOR MY BELOVED BOMBERS!!
