Reason by timing of Supplemental Books

By Darth Poopdeck, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

To me it would have seemed logical to release all the EotE supplemental books for each career first, then move onto to releasing AoR Core book. I mean we are now going to have FaD Core book before we have Bounty Hunter career book.

Does anyone know why they did it that way? I guess it keeps the old books fresh, but... it sucks for GM'ing for Bounty Hunters, and it sucks to be a Bounty Hunter. Well... maybe it doesn't 'suck', but... it's not cool man!

Because each line is its own entity not subject to the whims of the other lines. Even though they are all compatible they each have their own schedule of release independent of each other.

I guess that's cool. For some reason I kept thinking that for every non-EotE book that came out, it could have been an EoE book, but not the case when you put it that way.

I'd like to think they have a team dedicated to each of the three lines.

Because if FFG waited to release the 3 core book, the line would have died quickly.

Also they wanted to treat each line as separate game, so they need to equally support them to not piss off the people only playing Age of rebellion or force and destiny game.

I'm in the same boat. I wish they had a dedicated team for each game to keep the flow of material steady as EotE, AoR, and F&D are considered to be separate games that happen to be inter-lockable. In my little opinion, we'd get the technician and bounty hunter books this year. An adventure book would be appropriate but I'll chalk that off the wishful thinking. However, with so much other material for the other games in the pipeline it seems Edge isn't going to get those last two career books this year. That's a real shame because a technician and bounty hunter compromise half of my group and we're waiting on the rules that we believe will be covered in those books.

Just my two cents.

But surely they only have so many writers to go around. FFG must be running to the problem of finite resources, keeping all three going. I mean, sure we will indeed see more EotE product, but there's just so many hours in the day to write material.

I disagree. I want the same team to work on each line. That would keep the 3 lines fully compatible, otherwise, each line will have similar rules, but will diverge over time.

To mantain some tension XD

They leave some of the most wanted book while thery are releasing another ones I supose ;)
