The Reckless

By Fingolfin Fate, in Strategy and deck-building

As a sort of request, I am posting a deck. It is a bit absurd because I currently run at least six decks but I am posting one I had been running more than a year ago. Still, I think it is quite strong, and should be easy to play even for newer players. I may update it if I find a card which is more fit.

Boromir (Tactics)

Aragorn (Lore)

Théodred (Leadership)

Henamarth Riversong x1

Squire of the Citadel x3

Errand-rider x3

Envoy of Pelargir x3

Warden of Healing x2

Master of the Forge x3

Rivendell Minstrel x2

Erestor x1

Denethor x1

Faramir x1

Gandalf x3

Gondorian Fire x1

Horn of Gondor x1

Gondorian Shield x3

Captain of Gondor x1

Protector of Lórien x2

Song of Wisdom x2

Song of Kings x1

Heir of Mardil x1

Steward of Gondor x3

Visionary Leadership x1

A Burning Brand x2

Sword that was Broken x1

Daeron's Runes x3

Peace, and Thought x2

Sneak Attack x3

It is obviously not a very thematic deck. Well, Théodred is the odd duck here, the rest is Númenor and Elves, so pretty thematic. As for the strategy, you try to equip Boromir with the attachments to make him a machine defender. But with the Protector he can also quest quite nicely. It is nice to pile the title attachments. Heir of Mardil helps Théodred to become an aid in battle. The Sword, Visionary Leadership and Faramir help with questing. There are enough Gondor characters to justify the one copy of Leadership, I feel, especially if someone else but Boromir become the Steward of Gondor. If you feel like the questing is not sufficient, more copies of the Sword will be an option to solve this, but I like to run less copies of the unique attachments because Master of the forge can fetch them. He is quite a good card to start with. As for Gandalf, use him for combat or card draw until you have used Strider's ability to reduce threat. Peace, and Thought is usually an excellent card with Boromir. You usually just lose Strider for a round, or Théodred if you have enough money already. Chumps are there for the rescue in the beginning. Horn can become quite a money-maker, much more so in coop. I like it even more than Steward whenever I play together with Silvan or Rohan but here Steward is the attachment to have -- and the only unique with more than a copy. Use Song of Wisdom on Boromir for A Burning Brand.
