Designing new vehicles

Hi all,

Is there any sourcebook that give you any advice on how to design a new vehicle/starship? I am currently having trouble adjudicating the right amount of hull trauma threshold and system strain.

There is no system in place for this sort of thing. Take a reasonable guess and,if you are still uncertain, post it here for a critique.

If you got some time to kill, check out episode 44 of the Order 66 podcast. The hosts sit down with Jason Marker, free lance writer for FFG (the guy who designed 75% of the ships in this game) and discuss designing vehicles.

A good rule of thumb though is: If the players are expected to operate said vehicle, take the weapon they are most likely to encounter, the adversary most likely to operate it, determine the rough average damage output, and set the armor and hull trauma so the player can survive at least 2 hits.
