Rebel Amigos - Corran, Tycho and Jake

By surly88, in X-Wing Squad Lists

As some may already have noticed I'm currently trying out a lot of different lists ... and when I say a lot, I mean a lot :D

This one is my last incarnation ...

Corran Horn (35)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Fire-Control System (2)
R2-D2 (4)

Tycho Celchu (26)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Chardaan Refit (-2)
Push the Limit (3)
Autothrusters (2)
A-Wing Test Pilot (0)

Jake Farrell (24)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Chardaan Refit (-2)
Push the Limit (3)
Autothrusters (2)
A-Wing Test Pilot (0)

Total: 100

I'm looking for a list that can work well in a RAC & Whisper/Soontir, Brobot, Panic Attack metagame. My initial thought was 3 Squints, but since they are really vulnerable sometimes and dice dependant, I thought about changing into a rebel version.

Some thoughts:

- stress doesn't really bother this list much. Tycho can take Rebel Captive all day long, B-Wings with Tacticians whould hopefully be not much of a deal for Corran (1 per turn is ok each turn, which should be doable with his great dial and barrelroll). Jake isn't dependant on PTL, so he can choose not to use it when he doesn't want to.

- against Brobots the triple squint list worked exceptionally well, so I hope this one should work as well. While the output of the A-Wings is weaker compared to squints, the main goal is to dodge out of arcs anyway - not getting shot is way better here than having a perfekt shoot every turn. So yes, imo weaker than the squints here, but still good enough I guess.

- one of the worst things that can happen to a squint is a crit at the right time. The A-Wing bring two shields, and while they can't gamble with Stealth Device, I asumme they work much better against crit heavy builds like RAC for example. With Gunner chances are good he'll hit you anyway, so they perform really similar here imo. However having those 2 shields is just golden in this matchup.

- Phantoms, who are still a thing here, aren't much of a deal when you bring 2x PS10 and 1x PS9

- it's a hell of fun to fly ... Tycho and Celchu are both on-par with Soontir imo, which makes them really mobile ...

Anybody tried something like this yet? I've played Corran, Tycho and Jake so far, but not in one list. At least on paper it looks like a really nice list ...

I've been running a similar list, but double down on Horn (The boost at the end of a 3 forward, really helps when extending away to recharge) and adding in an effective brawler in Gemmer (with 5+ Green dice at R1 of any enemy ship).

Corran Horn (35)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Fire-Control System (2)
R2-D2 (4)
Engine Upgrade (4)
Jake Farrell (24)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Chardaan Refit (-2)
Push the Limit (3)
Autothrusters (2)
A-Wing Test Pilot (0)
Gemmer Sojan (22)
Chardaan Refit (-2)
Push the Limit (3)
Stealth Device (3)
A-Wing Test Pilot (0)
Total: 100
I played a test game against bro-bots, and Jake took down a bot by himself just by getting behind and doing R1 shots constantly. It was a pretty once sided tilt.

Interesting. I am inspired and shall test the following:

Corran Horn [R2-D2, Fire-Control System, Veteran Instincts, Engine Upgrade] (46)

Jake Farrell [A-Wing Test Pilot, Proton Rockets, Veteran Instincts, Autothrusters, Push the Limit] (33)

Green Squadron Pilot [A-Wing Test Pilot, Chardaan Refit, Push the Limit] (20)

The idea is replace Gemmer with a cheaper green but adding prockets to Jake for an alpha strike at some point.

Resurrecting the thread. Rather than start a new thread resurrection seemed more appropriate.

Any success with these? I was working on similar as my current list lacks a solid big hit to drop a target quick.

Corran Horn - 35

FCS - 2

= 37

Tycho Celchu - 26

PTL - 3

Proton Rockets - 3

= 32

Jake Farrell - 24

PTL - 3

Proton Rockets - 3

= 30

It's not as tricked out but I am limited in what I have to work with.
