ELI5 - Twin Laser Turret

By Explosive Ewok, in X-Wing

Depends on the dial. She can't regen if she SLAMs.

Well, I think Miranda + TLT + C3PO is on the absurd side of things. You get to regenerate a shield every round (for free), and get an evade token. Now that is a hard ship to take down.

It might be hard to take down, but it won't be taking anything down with it. Certainly not enough to turn a profit on the 38 points it cost.

Yeah, it is a slow play ship. There are very few ways to regenerate health in this game.

I think I would still throw on a couple of bombs on her.

I for one am very glad there is no EPT or astromech slot on the kwing.

meh, they could've thrown an ept without breaking much

Miranada's going to be a garbage fat ship so long as fat PWTs exist in their current state.

35 with TLT, 38 with 3po, 42 with engine (unless you enjoy not shooting) for a max 2 damage a turn is bleeeeeeeh. 2 more points gets you a legit tanky ship that murders things without worry (Mr. Horn)

wrong,

you can only inflict stress if you have none, because you receive 1 stress for using the astro mech.

The astromech isn't an action.

I never liked using BTL-A4 with R3-A2 because Y-wings only have 2 green maneuvers and they are the 1 and 2 straight. With the title if you have to turn at all then you are pretty much screwed as you will accumulate more stress.

As for the turret upgrade it does give Y-wings and HWKs more turret firepower that the Arc Dodgers hate, but it doesn't really give any power to the FAT turrets like RAC, Super Dash and Fat Han. Also it is an upgrade that can overpower stuff like C-3PO+ Falcon Title or Emperor + Issard. Yet it has a draw back and that is the most damage it can do is 2 while RAC and Fat Hans can do up to 4.

I think what the upgrade TWT is trying to do is bring out the half miniswarm half small turret lists out. You got the TWT to keep cards like Echo and Soontir at bay but those cards cannot one shot them. You also got the TWT to get past C-3PO but still it's firepower pales in comparison to the 3 firepower of the PWT so you would need more fillers like cheap A-wings or Z-95s to add into the punch.

Yes, the Y-wing only has 2 straight greens. It likely will never clear the stress from little ol' Stressbot, and will probably end the game with a stack of 10 or more tokens.
But really, who cares? I certainly don't, and neither should you. Not if it means that the opponent's far more valuable ship also never clears the stress. I would happily sacrifice the whole Y-wing to lock down an opposing Han, Soontir, Chirpy or IG-88; just trading the Y-wing's ability to do actions is a bargain.

I think some of the other damage mitigation droids might actually see more use now as well.

R5-P9 is looking pretty good - Horton with a TLT and R5-P9 can regenerate one shield a turn while still having decent firepower - he's vulnerable to blocking but still has a lot of choice on his dial and wants to be at longer range anyway. With that he can be almost as hard to take down as R2-D2 Corran, and actually more maneuverable (and a lot cheaper).

Even R7 might work as Horton doesn't need his target locks...

For Scum I think Drea Renthal and R4-B11 plus TLT will be a popular combination, partly just to see whether it's possible to out-do Tycho's pile of stress! It'll be great against arc-dodgers, as long as you can keep them outside range 1.

hate to piss in the pudding, but no he won't be even close to as durable.

1 agility +focus w/regen is just nowhere near 3 agility + evade + focus w/regen (from the PTL horton can't equip if he uses r5-p9)

not that the droid is necessarily a bad idea, just don't expect the big guy to take many hits. Having the freedom to select white maneuvers and the 360 degree fire + the TLT mechanics could well make r5-p9 worth it. Use that freedom of dial to get the hell out of dodge, though, because that Y will never soak as much damage unless something goes horribly wrong for Mr. Horn.
